So. I got accused of being racist today at work because I asked to check someone's bag and she happened to be Asian. The white middle aged guy with her got all huffy and accused me of only asking her because she's Asian. Mind you, my work has been cracking down on bag checks and we literally have to check ALL bags except handbags because a lot of people have been stealing recently. The colour of someone's skin or the way they look has never affected the way I've treated anyone before in my entire LIFE and I got so upset that he assumed I was doing it based on something like that! I was like "Um actually I've been checking everyone's bag" and he's like "Or did you just check hers because she's Asian?" Like wtf?? Why would her ethnicity make a difference to me checking her bag?? xD Like huh? I had been checking everyone I could because otherwise I legitimately get pulled up for it and even though I told him that, he just kept persisting and UUGGHHH the whole thing was extremely unpleasant and I nearly cried afterwards because I felt so judged and violated in a way. Like he was attacking my dignity and character even though he has no idea who I even am. xD Some people are just so awful! I don't get it! How can you treat someone like that? O_o I always try my hardest to be so polite to everyone I greet and then you get people like him, who probably just try to pick fights with anyone. I was so mad afterwards. xD He was like "I'm gonna come in next time and see if you're checking everyone's bag." WTF??!?! So creepy! Dx

I KNOW! I was so offended. I just, ugh, I still need to find a way to deal with people like this because I don't have the thickest skin no matter how hard I try. Next time I'm gonna just bell a manager without hesitation. Literally my Malaysian coworker was sitting behind me (whom I LOVE) and I should have turned around and been like "Hey Kevin! Have I EVER BEEN RACIST TO YOU?" I love his wife so much; she hugs me when she comes in to do some shopping. XD But you don't think of those things in the moment. Yeah I'm sorry it happened too. >:[ I bet he was trying to be some white knight or something at my expense. -_-

I hate that that's how things are getting. People cause these issues and we get the blunt end of it all. The same has been happening at my work. Stolen items and counts coming off wrong. Gatorade count was wrong at my job not long ago. Counts on some were at around 50. Guess how many of that particular one I ended up counting? .....nearly 200 in some. It's no wonder that storage corner was so full. They don't want me doing counts anymore, but I'm sure it could use it. The coke storage is pretty much empty.

Even bags, coolers, chair cases, gun totes have to be checked. Oh, and not to mention. No matter if they look old or not, the cash registers ask for age verification. Can't get past it without entering a birthdate. It's stupid! Like you I try and treat everyone with respect and avoid asking personal questions and the such. I don't look towards anyone racially. Exactly! It's like, if people didn't steal then everything would be fine and we wouldn't have to do checks! It makes me uncomfortable to do them but it's part of the job, and there's a sign when you walk in (it's in a stupid place so it's a little hard to see, but it's there).
