Ill explain when I get home and have my laptop. This is the superior football.

EDIT: Okay here goes. Bear in mind I don't know plenty, so I might be slightly inaccurate. In AFL (Australian Football League, aka Footy) you score by kicking the ball through the goals.

If you get the ball between the two big sticks, that's a goal, and is worth 6 points. If you get it between a big stick and a small stick, that's worth one point.

    The ball looks like this.

You can carry it, but you must bounce it every 15 meters (I think). If you know how to bounce it properly, they actually bounce surprisingly well. You can kick the ball (drop kick, not soccer kicker off the ground. If you do that when someone is about to pick it up, I am pretty sure you get penalized) or handball it. This is by holding it in one hand, and using the other to make a fist, and hit the ball out of your hand to the other player, using the section between your thumb and index finger.

If the ball is kicked more than 15 meters, and is caught on the full (hasn't touched the ground or another player), this is called a mark. Upon making a mark, the player is allowed a free kick from where they made the mark. Basically, if you make a mark in the inside 50 line (within 50 meters of your goal), then you have a fairly clear shot at kicking a goal unless you mess up the kick.

Tackling is allowed but with certain conditions. It has to be done between the shoulders and knees, and cannot be pushing them in the back. If a player with the ball gets tackled, they have to get rid of it ASAP by handballing it or kicking. If they hold it too long whilst being tackled, it is given to the tackler. There is much more to tackling that I am not 100% sure of.

This is the last quarter of last years grand final, which was probably one of the best games I've seen.

It's not. It's the simplest thing ever. xD You literally just kick the ball or handball it to people on your team until you reach the goal and then kick it through. There are a few rules in between but that's basically it, lel. There are refs to judge when a catch is considered a mark ("free kick" where nobody is allowed to tackle you or come within a certain distance until you kick the ball) and other rules.

No, no, no! Soccer is soccer and football is football. XD Your football is more like rugby or something idk lol.

And...yeah, Jacob explained it pretty well. xD That's Aussie footy! I'm not much of a fan, but my god, I love the close games. A couple of the Grand Finals have been great. *O* Seems much simpler than whatever the Americans play, aha.

No, oh no Rugby isn't close to Football. It may have a similar ball, but they're totally different. Football I thought was hard to understand, but it's not. Though College and Pro both have different (slightly, but different) rules.

    The time is upon us...

The offense has 3 tries to run to a 1st down. They need to get the football 10 yards down the field. If they don't succeed, it is 4th down. Most of the time the offense punts the ball on 4th down(kick it to the other team) or goes for a field goal(kick pig between yellow fork 3 points yes) A field goal is worth 3 points. I have some...reservations about the way some coaches call plays, regarding 4th down...but that's for another time.

A touchdown is worth 6 points, that is when the offense successfully makes it to the end of the field. After the touchdown, much like a field goal, the kicker kicks the ball through the yellow fork for an extra 1 point.

A defenses job is to murder the offense, make sure they stop breathing, no touchdown, grab the ball at all costs. Unless that defense's name is the Cleveland Brown, universal rule of american sports, Cleveland sucks(except for their basketball team)

That is the simple explanation. It is not constant, like soccer.
