"Racist" is one of those terms that people overuse to try and create power leverage when it's really not that at all. Sure, there is definitely racism still out there, but it's one of those go-to words that narrow-minded people fling around to make people feel guilty or yank them into a lawsuit. "Oh, you fired me because you're racist" even though that person was late every day, didn't do their job, didn't work well with others, reacted poorly with customers, and what have you, even though they just happen to be a minority.

It's one of those things where the justice courts create culture. If it becomes easy to sue someone by doing X, well, you'll have people doing X because it sounds like an easy way to poach money from someone else. Ooh, here's a multi-billion dollar company, and I want a piece of that pie. Ooh, I spilled hot coffee on my lap. Let me sue because I didn't know better and recognize "oh, hey, this drink is hot and maybe squeezing it between my knees in the car when I should be using a CUP HOLDER INSTEAD might be better (say what you want about Liebeck v. McDonalds, this was still a very stupid thing to do in the CAR while you're DRIVING). Same thing if a certain thing becomes legal or illegal. Look at how things like Prohibition affected culture just based on what's allowed and what's forbidden. Lately I've seen a lot of playgrounds being torn down and I'm pretty sure I know the reason why. They've become a liability. In the days before, a kid might get hurt, but life went on. Maybe they scuffed their knees or got a cut, but a band-aid and a week later, it was like it never happened. When I was about six years old, I remember running around a playground and I dashed right into a metal bar and yep, I cut my lip and bled everywhere. I didn't sue, though. It was my bad, I should have been more careful about where I was running and I learned from my mistakes. Now, parents would sue over that and the lawsuit would hit ridiculous numbers to the point where oh my goodness, a having playground is just an expensive liability. And that's the problem. There are things that are their own fault but they don't think of it that way. They think their kids are perfect and anything that goes wrong is always someone else's fault. It gets greedy people locked into a blame game and what you end up having is a nation of vampires who are just out to suck each other dry.
