Yup! Around the time the movie came out; Pokémon was at the peak of its popularity. Gen 2 that is. So the directors thought it would be cool to show off some characters from it since they were in Japan. Sadly in the official movie you only see 1, but in the deleted scenes and extras you see (I think if I remember): Celebi, Charmander, and Pikachu
