So the one that NZ had is called Veemon. The one I posted was Kudamon. They're digimon. Basically they're a similar concept to pokemon where they are monsters that are digital data that exist in their own world and people who train digimon are called Tamers. When a digimon has a strong bond with a Tamer and has enough power, it can digivolve into a higher power form. If you're going by the anime then they'll eventually devolve back to their rookie form but in the games they don't usually do that. The ranks usually go In-training, Rookie, Champion, Ultimate, and Mega.

And then there are ones higher than mega, but still classifying as mega. The Holy Knights, and the X-Antibodies.

It can be a bit confusing compared to Pokemon.

Right like Kudamon can actually digivolve into one of the Holy Knights, Kentaurusmon.

It's why when megasvolution was introduced people were saying Pokémon was becoming digimon.

Digivolution is still a lot more branched and complex than Pokemon evolution, though. Even counting the Megas. It helps that the power gap between Digimon stages of evolution is far bigger than the gap between Pokemon evolution. I think really only Mega Rayquaza could really be on par with the power of Digimon Mega forms.

Digimon evolution is so confusing. Like that completely separate digimon can digivolve into the SAME thing! And like a lot of them are all interconnected to the point that it feels like there's very few distinct entities, and each of em have like 50 pre/evolution options. It's weird. xD

Hmm, thanks for the explanation, but yeah, it does sound a little confusing. I think I'll just stick with good ol' Pokémon.

Not all of them are like that. Only the main ones like Terriermon or Agumon are like that. Kudamon has one straight line of digivolutions and it doesn't even have an in-training form.
