They did. xD At least on the new Macbook Pros. No more regular USB ports, they're all USB-C (lightning) ports and need adapters to work with anything.

One for every cord type yes. I have one for an Ethernet cable. It probably wouldn't work with an HDMI or USB port. I'd need another adapter for those.

Now that's one thing that you never seem to have enough of. I swear, giving someone nothing but surge protectors and extension cords for Christmas may not seem classy, but boy, they'll definitely use them one way or another. XD

But then suddenly cords are everywhere xD. Trying to fit so much into one place. Then you try to make room and start doing house maintenance to make it more convenient and things don't work well hahaha.

That is my room. xD Only it's mostly hidden on the left side of my bed, underneath, so I don't have to worry about them. ...Except for when I need to vacuum. But I have me a state-of-the-art power board, though!
