Michigan's tap water is pretty good, we've got the Great Lakes so we have the largest source of fresh water anywhere, which makes the whole Flint thing even stupider.

I like the taste of our tap water, or at least I don't notice any sort of bad taste, though if you live farther out from the city you may need hard water softener, especially if you have an artesian well.

Wow, that's nuts. Here we all drink out of the tap. xD It depends which parts you go to of course, but WOW if I had to buy bottled water, I'd be so broke. I drink a lot. Plus, omggg all those bottles are horrible for the environment. >.<

Our tap water is filtered through the sink, so even better! But yeah, failing that, normal tap water is fine imo.

Is American tap water unsafe to drink or something (besides the Flint thing)? When I was in CA, everyone was buying bottled water! It's crazy! You can get that stuff out of the tap here. It tastes exactly the same and saves bottles! xD

California is one of those states that has water shortages a lot. So bottled water is something everyone likes to have in that "just in case" situation. Heck in fact, my dad is precautions like that in a way and we live in Georgia. Where it's not so bone dry like in CA. So people over in CA just like to stay stocked on it just in case.

Tap water can vary here. When pipes mess up, they flush it or with chemical. Sometime it lasts for a few days. So either you pour tap and boil the water first or you can drink bottled water to be safe. So most people in the affect area drink bottled water

As long as you don't get like fiji water or the fancy flat waters, bottled water is pretty cheap here. I can get a 24 case of Ice mountain water for less than $5.

I tried Fiji water, and it's exactly the same as other waters. Sure, it as a cool looking label that does actually make it look more refreshing, but it's still the same water! XD

What we do is buy a bulk pack of bottled water, which means it's only a few cents per bottle. We toss a few bottles in the fridge, and if we go to the food court, we just take the bottles of water with us rather than playing $1.50 for it. Saves an enormous amount of money.

But yeah, the markup on bottled water is absolutely insane.

The thing with Dasani is why is there sodium in it!? I'm not crazy about it, it's got a weird, not water-like taste to it.

Aquafina is fine though. I've had that plenty of times before.
