Eh, I don't see why being able to buy stones would be such a bad thing. Why can I only evolve one or two Pikachus into Raichus but I can evolve as many Pidgeys into Pidgeottos just because the evolution method is different?

And yeah, I kind of wish I started with Yellow also, because Blue was clunky-looking, but for it's time, it was easily one of the deepest Game Boy games around. But yeah, back sprites were so pixelated in the beginning. A lot of the attack animations also looked pretty lazy.

Yeah I feel the same. The fact they made evolution stones harder to obtain is kind of pointless. I mean they've somewhat fixed it not, but still. The fact that certain Pokemon depend on one of these stones to evolve makes it difficult. You'd have a big choice to make.

I may have started with Blue version, but I was happy toget Yellow soon after. The fact I got that special Pikachu GBC with it made it all the better too. I found it hard to put down Yellow version when I got it too. Pikachu still being my favorite today only gives me hope that they will make some form of a Yellow remake soon. Would love to see a fully remade 3D Pikschu model following behind you and the animations they would create for it.

    The time is upon us...

I did like the fact they made evolution stones WAY easier to obtain. I don't know why they decided to be pesky and made them harder to get a hold of and in limited supply.
Half the time, when looking at Charmeleon's back, I got scared by the ingrown horn on its head. And Charizard just...just looks really anorexic from behind. XD (why does it remind me SO much of Mr. Burns?!)

I loved the fact you could buy stones, too, and I agree with Neo. It makes absolutely no sense I can only evolve two or three such Pokemon that use the same evolution stone. So not fair. What if I want an army of Vaporeon or something? 3:

My first game was Blue, but I received that as a gift. xD I never picked up Yellow, but I plan to buy it tomorrow when it's released on the Nintendo eShop!

For me, Charmeleon's horn wasn't the issue, though I can see what you mean. What's up with his cheeks? Did a Beedrill give him a big stinging there or what? And yeah, that sprite of Charizard makes him look pretty skeletal, and yes, it does remind me of Mr. Burns! Which is weird, because the front sprite looked totally fine even in the Red and Blue days.

I see the cheeks now. xD Though I always thought that was his snout? Still weird.

Well the front sprites I don't really have much of a problem with, it's just the back ones. It's like whoever decided to sprite them gave up halfway through lol.

Yeah, there were a lot of messed up sprites. I was also never thrilled about the Pokemon cries either. It's funny how in Pokemon Yellow, Pikachu finally made the Pika Pika sounds, but all the others still had those digitized howls of the damned.

Well the game was out before the anime, yeah? So replacing all those digitised noises with their actual cries would be...well, kinda weird. At least to me, anyway. The only problem I have with that is that they revised the cries of older gen Pokemon and made them sound SO DAMN TERRIBLE it tears my soul in two. </3

Are you kidding? I LOVE their cries! I was shattered that they changed them in X/Y. The thing is, I thought that a pokemon only saying its species name was kinda dumb. I find it hard to believe that somehow they all speak a word that humans gave them, regardless of language... Like...what? The only reason they gave pikachu an audio file in a game that came out over 2 years after the originals saying its species was because of the anime, which was the only thing at the time suggesting that pokemon could only produce vocalisations of species classifications given to them by humans. xP

Hmm, yeah, you do have a very valid point there.

Come to think of it, there are some Pokémon cries that aren't all that bad, (Pikachu's original cry wasn't terrible either). However, there are a bunch that are just... eh, a little too mechanical-sounding and weird for a creature that's supposed to be a living and breathing thing in this game. And then again, I figured they were doing the best job they could given the original Game Boy's audio limitations. But you're right also, there are times in the anime when it just seems off for the Pokémon to be barking its own species name (especially in cases where it's long and they say the entire name again and again). It works great for some Pokémon, and then there are others where it's just plain awkward.

Yeah in Japan the games came out before the anime. It was opposite here though. That is one thing I liked about Yellow version. Pikachu's cry was an audio file for its actual speech rather than the usual cry. Well even now I really like the "pika pika" in X and Y. Honestly it shows how far the series has come to be able to change it and the graphics that much.

I did really like most of the cries in R/B/Y. Most of them at least. Some of the others still sound bad to my ears. Actually makes me wonder how a lot of them will change in the eShop versions.
