Yep, I had plenty of jobs where I wasn't given the things I needed to do things well and when I requested them, nothing was done about it.
And yeah, you have some people out there that create a LOT of needless drama. As if they're doing it for drama's sake and love the "soap opera" feel in the workplace. Ugh.
My school offers tutoring, plus I have my old math teachers. Otherwise I definitely would.
To me, math teachers themselves were the least helpful. I felt like I always needed to go to the outside for help, which just sucked.
Though the worst of the worst had to be the two physics teachers I had. Holy smokes. One guy even said "oh, I'm not going to do it for you!" I'm NOT ASKING YOU to do it for me, I'm asking you to help me learn it because IT'S YOUR JOB! That guy was a really bumbling anus.
Yeah that's how a few were for me in similar ways. It's like they plan out the course and don't want to divert from it in any way. No matter if a student needs extra help. They'd rather you find the way than show you again since they do it in class. I hate it because not everyone catches onto it the first time or the times after that. They need to be shown in a way YOU can understand it.

Yeah, everyone learns in different ways. They can't just assume there's a mass production means of teaching and learning and they can just recycle the same thing year after year, BUT... that's what many of them do anyway!
I'm hands-on and visually-oriented. I NEED the interaction, because if I don't get it, poof, I get bored easily. Oh, "read chapters 1-4 tonight?" That's great, expect me to be skimming that fluff because I don't have the attention span to just gaze at paragraph after paragraph of filler and junk for four hours. But ask me to do a nifty chemistry lab thing or build a model and I'll be all over that. Way more interesting stuff and I'd be way more willing to learn the science behind that kind of thing than to just stuff my face in a boring textbook until midnight.
I feel like this is the same reason why I'd rather play video games than watch sports or just watch movies. Of course I make exceptions every now and then, but I definitely prefer being in command of the action and being a participant in the excitement rather than just be a spectator.
As far a sports go, I only really like watching baseball regularly. I like the suspense building in it.
Sports wise I really only watch football. Although last year I didn't really watch it.

Football is cool, it just kinda stinks that it's only on on Sundays. But I see why, obviously.
