I had heard it was confirmed as RTBs in Pokémon. How they're revamping the entire battle system. Now the only rumor besides Ultra Shiny I've heard is how the region is supposed to be Free Roam to the point it's like BotW, just not as big and vast.

Frankly I didn't like how the FF games were switched to the RTB system either, Neo. Honestly after you get used to it, it's pretty amazing. If they handle it right it's even better. FF14 is RT and it's great, but each dungeon or boss has battle mechanics you learn. Once you and the party get them down it's simple enough.

I feel like the one characteristic that defines Pokemon is the turn-based battling style. They better not get rid of it.

I guess they figured it's been the same for over 20 years now. Finally getting onto a bigger system. One both portable AND home console. They have the opportunity to try something new and bigger.

I can agree with wanting to make it different. I just feel it could either flop or be amazing.

That's the thing. You never know til you try. It can make or break it. Just like a Pikachu mega evolution.

I guess that's why they've been steadily making changes to the game. Then they can stop what worked and what didn't.

The thing I liked about FF being turn-based were the spells! The crazy limit breaks! The summons! The whole mini-movie of total carnage you got to watch when you cast these things! They were awesome and badass! Now, it's just rushed and you're just spamming and button-mashing this stuff out, and the only difference between it and something like God of War or Witcher III are just the numbers spilling out everywhere, which seem silly and pointless now. Meanwhile, now you've just got extra baggage NPCs as helpers when before you could directly command what they do and have more of a strategy going. Sorry, but when it comes to FF games, that's the deal-breaker that killed it for me right there. It stopped feeling like the Final Fantasy I liked and just felt like some other game entirely.
