A whole Stalkers skin would be so edgy, though! XD

As it stands, Xanthe is hosting the next season of Stalkers, but I will be a player in it this time! It's going to be pretty neat and I feel seeing things from the player's side will help me evaluate what things are the most fun, which things could be improved, and what components of the rules can be revised to make it more fun.

The only thing about using Gengar (or any ghost type) is the because a lot of normal type attacks get flung in that game and that results in an automatic loss for the one trying to attack the ghost type, it's going to be a lot more expensive to add them to your Lineup roster. In DBR2, you would actually need to use up your Trait bonus and almost all your stage allocations to get the Gastly, Haunter, and Gengar Lineup.

It may seem harsh, but ghost types are absurdly powerful in DBR. Better than even legendaries on the Uber tier in most cases.

Ohhhh, but just you guys wait on DBR2. It’ll come soon enough. The insanity may end soon, but it’ll come back. Even more crazy than before.

    The time is upon us...

The way it goes is in DBR2, everyone has 7 stages to allocate in the beginning. You can start with 10 using the Compensator Trait, but then you use up your Trait doing that (and Traits are a new thing that allow you to do things that other players without the Trait can't do, work as passive buffs, and such).

Because the use of Normal type moves is so frequent, Rock and Steel types will cost you 2 stages instead because normal type moves being flung at them will always reflect and hurt the attacker for one regular damage strike. I don't even think we had a person go with a rock type all game long, but I'm quite sure the result would have been similar. So where you could have gotten a Pichu > Pikachu > Raichu Lineup for the cost of 3 stages, a Lineup like Aron > Larion > Aggron is going to cost you 6 stages instead.

On that note, ghosts, which automatically KILL anyone who throws a normal type move at them (and this nearly ruined DBR1 because it was getting so bad and out of control), will hit you for 3 stages apiece. So that Gastly > Haunter > Gengar Lineup is going to eat up a whopping 9 of your stages, which cannot even be done without the use of the Compensator Trait. Now there is an item you can use to protect your Lineup from getting Wheeled (Mighty Shield). If you're still thinking of doing this kind of stage investment into a ghost Lineup, USE THAT SHIELD! Or else you will definitely risk having that whole Lineup nuked when someone Wheels you. But that said, there are still other counters to these kinds of Lineups.

But with the inclusion of Traits, Items, and now team play, there is a lot more strategy going. On top of that, evolutions are limited so that's also something that needs to be used resourcefully. Should be interesting.

...dammit now I feel stupid because I said that out loud rather than PMing it to someone high in command. But I did just have another idea, so... Time to learn from mistakes!

Also, I am SO excited to let Nickelfool run amok this season as my PC! I wonder who he picks up for the next Stalker incursion..?

What, you thought I made that big deal of crystallizing him for nothing?

Single evo Ghost and Steel/Faiey is a good idea in my opinion. It may be costly but has the same effect.

It would be cool if abilities came into play but that could get confusing.

Edit: No evo i meant, not single evo.

    Magearna.
Mimikyu could be good as well.

There is one pokemon i have my sights on that is near unstoppable, in a game like this. But, i will keep it to myself.

Yeah, no abilities, as there's just way too many of them and it would be really hard to translate them into something applicable to DBR.

And this time around, nothing's unstoppable. Sure, some things may need more intricate approaches to take them down, but everything has answers.
