PvZ 2 was the time travel game, and yeah, I hit a road block on that one, but I think that the level I’m stuck on is an RNG level, not a premium plant level. It has a conveyor that delivers the plants it wants you to use, but the conveyor is slow and completely random as to which available plant it wants to give you. I just picked up PvZ 1 and haven’t really played it yet, so I don’t know how bad it gets.

PvZ Heroes is a trading card-style game and it has two types of currency which are fairly easy to access. The first currency gets you card packs and is available by doing daily missions or character based missions. The second currency is available by destroying cards you don’t want and is used to craft other cards. Every character also has two missions that provide enough of the second currency to craft a card useful for that character, and when you craft that specific card for that mission, you get some of the first currency.

Mortal Kombat mobile has two currencies and the only real use for the premium currency is to get a *chance* of obtaining a card that is not available in the challenge modes or the gold characters from the store. But it’s available through random drops, login rewards, daily quests, challenge mode, and PvP modes. Once you get a couple gold characters to level 20-ish, it becomes really plentiful.

I haven’t played the other games you’ve mentioned, though, so I have no bearing on any of that.

Yeah Fate has several. There's QP, your basic run of the mill currency for powering up your characters and craft essences. Laughably easy to obtain. There's Mana Prisms, which are also fairly easy to obtain. They can be used to purchase Summon Tickets for the gacha or for like specific power ups. You can get up to 30 every day just by completing quests and if you sell high enough rarity craft essences or characters you can get them that way too. Then there's Saint Quartz, our first tier of paid currencies. Again, not too too hard to obtain. If you log in every day for a week you'll get one. If you complete story and side quests you'll get one the first time you complete said quest. Certain character specific quests offer them. They give them out in larger amounts for when the app goes down for maintenance or other special events. And by completing a special set of quests that updates weekly, you can get shards of them that with seven shards you can form one. Then there's Rare Prisms that can only be obtained by selling a 4 or 5 star servant (aka the really rare ones). I think these are purchasable but I've never looked. Then there's Unregistered Spirit Origins. These are pay only currencies. In theory, the way you obtain them is you'll get one every time you get a 5 star servant that you've already obtained five times previously, but the only way to get a five star servant that many times is by paying.

The graphics were beautiful and so nicely detailed, but that was its only saving grace and I feel bad for the graphic designers that likely spent so much time and effort into those resources and game assets. The actual gameplay itself was a joke. It was impossible to kill anything with your starting equipment (which consisted of a cheap blunt weapon and barely noticeable armor and when you died (not if, WHEN), you lost everything and there was nothing around to help you recuperate what you lost. So you're literally just running around in your underwear after that with even less than what you started off with. Trying to scavenge for the most basic equipment and materials was always a suicide mission even at level 1. On top of that, you were subjected to PVP right at level 1 (always a horrible idea, give people some time to even learn how to play first). So if the packs of zombies and other overpowered mutants weren't tearing you apart, other players were. Even after losing everything, I was getting warnings about "Incoming Horde" and a "Starvation" warning. Things were so beyond hopeless I actually found it comical how badly Murphy's Law just completely devoured this game every millisecond. And then uninstall.
I remember that one. I think the last time I played it they just released the gender update and suddenly my character was female? I never found a way to change it back. They did have a good few ways to stay alive, but I hate how everytime I logged back on my entire base was leveled by the hoard. It shouldn't be totally destroyed every 24 hours. That's just a bit unfair. I mean the floor and equipment and chests were still there, but every wall was just gone.

I don't get how it's rated so well when it's so anti-newbie. It was almost as bad as Everquest, where you're killed by rats and always one slight mistake away from losing all your equipment and days worth of exp grinding.

Everquest almost permanently murdered any desire I had to give the MMO genre another chance. I swear, the developers of World of Warcraft must have analyzed that game, pinpointed all the things they hated and felt were grossly unfair about it, and made sure none of that crap happened in WoW. It was so good for a long time, but then I think too many expansions drowned it.

I used to play a ton of MMOs but time meant that that didn't last long.

Well now they've got multiplayer added and clan stuff apparently. I guess cause they've got an interesting concept to them game? Maybe? I dunno.

My MMO experience was kinda weird at first. Some dungeon game that I don't even remember, but then it moved up to RF Online. One of those you don't see around anymore, but one of those that was pretty great until the group had to shut it down. Some MMOs were really great though. Like Vindictus was one of those that stuck around for a good many years.

I try to avoid guilds and clans. So many of them expect you to be online constantly or even worse, push you to pay for microtransactions to keep competitive. That's definitely not a hole you want to get pulled into.

What is AFQ? Haven't seen that acronym before.

I've been in a few guilds but they died pretty darn quickly. And man, so much drama sometimes over the littlest things.

Also, Guild Banks. Where heaps of good items go in and never come out. XD
