Matthias thought about what Rennie said. "Perhaps we could find a way to track whoever tries to track us. But that sounds like highly technical stuff. Way beyond me. I can play the system to get what I want, but I have never been any kind of hacker."

"Yep definitely aggressive. New girl seems to be a bit volatile. But she also seems to have a beef with Sophie. I think we both know how she feels on that count. Still we have had a day to get used to coming through that portal. She has just arrived and is trying to work out what has happened to her. Perhaps we could catch her a break. I am going to try to to catch up with her."

As Matthias hurried past the others he said, "I'll try to get her back. We are all here for a purpose, right? How about we give a new person, who is probably as scared as we were on being sucked through a portal, and hasn't had a day to get used to the idea."

'How the ...shouldn't use that word, Mum wouldn't like it... did I end up being peace maker?' He thought to himself. 'Still might need to use this new girl to get me home safe. Play nice until you get what you want!'

Renny attention turned to Kinnie. The trainer he had met when this whole mess started. She seemed on edge.

" I wouldn't pay this much mind. If that new trainer attacks the other new trainer it will split this team apart. People are just feeling each other out. The wild pokemon back home do the same thing." He said casually.

Renny looked at the evolved pokemon. He called out his Shinx.
"Are you good with electric types? If so you could help me train this guy or girl." He paused to think about it.

"Once Shinx is trained the energy out put should be able to power my equipment if its possible to harness the energy that is. "

The sun was setting as we walked through the main gate into Orebourgh City. Street lights were turning on, as some of the buildings began to turn off lights as businesses closed. Some however remained open. Unfortunately Orebourgh Gym was dark, and the sign out the front stated it closed at 5:30pm, and would reopen at 9am the next morning.

We walked to the Pokemon Center, where we scanned our Trainer Cards in order to book rooms for the night. Palila however hadn't received her trainer card yet, which meant if she wanted to sleep indoors she would have to bunk with someone until we organized a proper trainer card for her. The receptionist at the Pokemon Center mentioned this, however I left her to figure out who she would ask. If she asked me, I wouldn't say no, but after what happened earlier, I wasn't going to offer straight up.

"Doors close here at 11pm." I explained to the group, "Do what you like until then, just be back here before curfew, otherwise it will be a cold night."

Nathan said goodbye to myself and the group before making his way back to Jubilife City.

Palila went off in search for some new threads and potentially a place to find some healing supplies. As she walked through the city streets she noticed a street market with many different stands that sold various goods and services.


An eldry woman waved to her from her little stand.
" Come her child!" She smiled waving her over.

The womans stand was filled with exotic pokeballs


at the same time another stand nearby also tried to get her attention.

" Dont listen to her! We sell the most rare goods here!" the man said.

Drake checked in the pokemon center to be told that he had a voice mail. He excused himself and walked over the computer. He sat down and watched the video chat from his mother.
" Hi honey! I hope you are well! I am flying into Virbank City tonight. Ill call you when we land. We have a layover there. I miss you terrible. I know youre to old to be babied but I miss you terribly. I miss have co-poliet." She said with a smile.

"Oh I talked to your father and he said to call him. Also, a friend of mine there has been looking after your Fennekin. Make sure to stop by her house in Orebourgh City. Ill let her know to look out for you. Im sending her address" His mom paused

" Please be safe, call me soon!"

Drake smiled pressed the respond button to leave a message.

"Hi mom! Sorry I missed your call. Youre going back to Unova huh? If you can grab me some Magost Berries. Grookey seems to love them (Inside joke. In gcea Magost berries pervent fire weakness) Fly safe mom. Oh its okay if your co-poliet sits in my seat just this time." He smiled

" Ill make sure to call dad tonight. Ill try calling you again tomorrow. Love you!" He smiled hanging up.

Drake wrote down the address.

" Now to find my way around." he said looking around for someone who had a poketech who might be able to use it to find the address.

"Neith. Like knees, but with a lisp? Neeth?" Neith was a bit taken aback by her response. I guess that’s one way to remember it. The girl said to call her Rae, that she was from Alola, and the bird was a Rowlet. As Neith was still taking it in; she wasn’t used to anyone talking as quickly as her; Rae had reached out for Neith’s beads. “Oh, yeah. They’re from the Unova desert.” Began to explain, but didn’t get much further before Sophie confronted the girl, which ended with Rae running off ahead, after insulting Sophie a bit. Why can’t for once we all just get along?


Eventually the group arrived at Oreburg. Neith checked in with the others, and handed over her pokeballs to the nurse. While she waited, she pulled out the Laptop and started writing. A paper journal was okay, but Neith’s handwriting couldn’t compete with the speed of a word processor.

She saw Rae’s trainer card got declined, and her leave to get some warmer clothes. Neith shut the lid and hurried after her, but she was gone before he could offer any help. Oh well, She’ll be back later. But while she was out, there were a few more things Neith had to take care of.


After a quick trip to the pokemart to restock her supplies, Neith set out back along route 204. Leaving the city boundaries, Neith began heading for a patch of trees where she had seen several Starly earlier.
Okay, this is my last chance. Neith released Nemesis from the pokeball.
“I don’t want there to be any more animosity between us. I know you aren’t happy following my orders. I’m not going to force you. If you really want to, you can leave. I wont stop you.”
Neith held out Nemesis’ pokeball, offering it to the Starly.
“But I would really like to be your friend. You are one of the strongest pokemon I’ve ever met, and I would like to fight alongside you. I’ve been going about this all wrong.”
Neith reached into her pocket and pulled out the crumpled berry voucher. “Here, you can have this.”
Neith got up and began to walk back to Oreburg. Nemesis sat looking at the ticket for a moment, then snatched it up in her beak, pokeball clutched in her talons, and flew after Neith.
Neith’s heart leaped as the Starly dropped the pokeball back into her bag. “So you’ll stay?” Neith swung her arms around and pulled Nemesis into a tight hug. “I’ll try to understand you better from now on, I promise!”
Nemesis pecked at her arm, but it lacked the usual force, being more annoyed than hostile.

It seemed that the conflict between the three girls settled down not long after it began, but there still remained tension between a few members of the group. Kinnie's mind continually echoed her father's words about team cohesion, and silently she wondered why people were not willing to set aside differences to work together. She breathed a deep sigh as she informed Vilne that he need not worry about stopping conflict for the time being.

Renny, the boy with the camera, suddenly approached her. "I wouldn't pay this much mind. If that new trainer attacks the other new trainer it will split this team apart," he said, his eyes flicking between the offending group members. "People are just feeling each other out. The wild pokemon back home do the same thing."

Kinnie considered this for a moment. She was not too well-versed in pokemon's natures, although it did make sense. She hadn't considered the lack of group cohesion to be natural. The boy looked at Vilne and proceeded to release his shinx. Kinnie watched as her luxio stared at the smaller creature, trying to gauge his reaction.

"Are you good with electric types? If so you could help me train this guy or girl." He paused. "Once Shinx is trained, the energy output should be able to power my equipment--if it's possible to harness the energy, that is."

Kinnie was not also not well-versed in electronic equipment, but Renny's words interested her. Pokemon had their purposes, and clearly an electric type could use its electricity for a human's purposes. She shrugged a little. "I had never met an electric pokemon until Vilne," she explained. "My knowledge about them does not extend far..." She turned her head to her luxio, and he tilted his head up to meet her gaze. She felt a small smile wiggle its way onto her face. "But he's doing well so far. Perhaps...he could help your shinx."

The remainder of the afternoon was spent travelling to the next city, Oreburgh. In that time, Kinnie gave names to the newly hatched grubbin and her kricketot: Beluga and Knack respectively. Knack and Fiona both evolved, and Beluga, although newly hatched, seemed to respond well to some light training.

They finally reached Oreburgh City, where Sophie briefed them on where they would be staying as well as the curfew. Kinnie noticed that the new girl and a few others left to track down a market, and she considered that she herself would also need to stock up on such things as poke balls and perhaps some potions.

Neith ventured out back onto the previous route. Her new pokemon was seemingly unhappy with her. The weight of this bothered her so she decided it was best to give the pokemon its freedom so that it wouldnt have to be unhappy any longer. The little Starly suprised her by returning. The act of giving it its freedom had earned some respect with the brave little pokemon.


A little pokemon in the bushes had been watching all of this happen. The curious pokemon poked its head out.


"Shinx?"

It said taking a few steps towards the Neith. However, the little pokemon attention turned to a pokemon that appeared in the long grass.

The elderly lady didnt react to this.
" Are you one of my grandchildren?" she said leaning over to take a better look

After a moment she backed up and giggled. The comment was extremely rude but she had heard much worse.

" I meant you no harm. I address all the young trainers child. You strike me as the kind of person who speaks with little regard to others around you. You must be very popular with others your age." She joked sarcastically

" I called you over becuase I have a great opportunity for you. I deal in gems and evolution stones. My business is fairly new but already has a few lower costumers. I am looking to expand my business to other cities but part that requires training wingulls to learn the routes. If you could simply escort my prized wingull to Eterna City with you as you travel I will be able to connect with my new partner and our prized wingull could then travel back and forth with ease. To pay you for this I would be willing to give you one of our other prized Wingulls. They are trained well and make great pokemon partners. What do you say ?"

Arriving at Oreborough was like hitting paradise. No more countryside, just lots and lots of civilisation. he made his wayto teh Pokemon center and deposited the gross bug he had in his bag and swapped in the Shinx. he felt pretty relaxed. Time for some food.

He walked until he found a cafe and scoped it out. Two worked, both very busy, average time of serving customers, 3 minutes per customer, leaving the servery unattended for up to a minute and a half at a time.

He had enough food to last him another couple of days, but he wanted to keep his skills tight. Stealing a decent pie from this shop would be child's play. Instinct and Kid would stage a mock battle outside to get everyone's attention and Matthias would have enough food to feed his entire team.

Just as he was about to step into action, Matthias felt a hand on his shoulder.

"How is the egg?" a sinister voice asked.

Matthias turned and saw the strange man in the black and red robe, who had given his the egg, back at the beginner's competition.

"Hi!" he said nervously, everything about this guy gave him the creeps. "I had a difficult time with the egg, but it hatched. Trapeze, come out!"

Trapeze came out and climbed up to Matthias' shoulder. "Spinar?" she asked.

The man nodded and pulled out a Pokeball of his own. "Brood Mother! Come!" His Pokeball opened and a huge Ariados appeared. I was as large as a Rapidash! "Brood Mother is the mother of all the spiders in 'Spider clan'! We seek out likely trainers and give them eggs. Most don't hatch, but those that survive are stronger than most, and signify that a trainer is worthy to attempt to join the clan. You have passed the first trial. There are many more. Only the best may become spider clan."

"Brood Mather. Pie. Stealth!" The giant Aiados nodded looked over at the cafe, it waited for half a minute and then shot a string of web that reached across the street and snagged a pie off a distracted customer's plate. The pie shot back to land in the robed man's hand. The customer did not notice it missing for a minute and then started shouting.

"Train your Spinarak! Prove yourself worthy, and you will be taught the secrets of the spider clan."

"But how..." was all that Matthias got before the Ariados shot a web up to and overhead building and the robed man and the Ariados swung away through the air.

"So that was you Mum huh?" Matthias said in a slightly shocked voice. "She seems nice! Do you think we will be worthy of joining 'Spider clan'?"

Trapeze looked at him seriously, "Spinarak!" she said in a very determined voice.

As Neith began walking back, she heard a rustling sound behind her. Turning around, she saw a blue and black furred cat-like pokemon had begun to follow her.
“I mustn’t spook it.”
However, any plans Neith had disappeared as the Shinx’s attention turned to the emergence of a large insect from the bushes. Neith recognised it as the evolved form of Kricketot.

The Kricketune advanced on the Shinx, then with a light fast blow sliced at the electric cat’s side, causing the Shinx to collapse.

Nemesis, who was still out charged from Neith’s arms and flew at the Kricketune, much to Neith surprise. She’d never seen Nemesis pick a fight before.

This had to be the one time Fennel wasn’t already out. Neith fumble in her bag and sent out the Fennekin as quickly as she could.

“Quick Fennel, we need to help Nemesis! Use ember!”

The Starly was swooping around the Kricketune, darting out of range of it’s blade-like forearms whenever it moved to attack. But it left very little room to attack, and Nemesis was currently more of a distraction than a threat.
However, the burst of fire from Fennel drew it’s attention. It was hit in the side and left a scorch mark along it’s wing and body. Putting together it’s legs, the pokemon let out a high pitched screeching, causing Neith to cover her ears. Fennel was more susceptible to these however, and was quickly overwhelmed by the noise, falling to the ground unconscious.

Before Neith had the chance to send out another pokemon, Nemesis took advantage of the insect’s distraction, swooping in and pecking at it’s burned wing. The Kricketune practically howled in rage, and connected with a vicious slash to the underside of the Starly. But Nemesis’ attack had done it’s job, and the Pokemon hobbled back into the grass, evidently deciding that the fight wasn’t worth it anymore.

After recalling Fennel back to her ball, Neith rushed over to Nemesis, who had landed near the Shinx from before.
The gash on Nemesis’ chest wasn’t deep, but the pokemon was obviously struggling to fly with it.
“You were amazing Nemesis. I’ll get you to the Center as soon as I can.” Neith recalled Nemesis, then turned her attention on the Shinx.

The Shinx’s injury wasn’t life threatening, but would need treating. Neith grabbed one of her new bandages. (Lucky I visited the shops first) and, recalling what she had learned from helping her mother treat injured pokemon, patched up the cut as best she could.
The Shinx looked blearily up at her. You should ok to go back now. I have to go and treat Nemesis and Fennel at the center.
She she returned down the road, she heard pawpads behind her. The Shinx was once again following her. “Wait, do you want to come with me?” The Shinx nodded, then slowly walked up to her and pawed at her leg.
“Ok, ok I get it. Here.” She held out a pokeball, which the Shinx tapped with it’s nose, before disappearing into it with a red light. The ball locked afterwords. Too many pokemon again. I’ll just have to remedy this back at the center.

At the Center, Neith swapped out her Kricketot for the Shinx and handed over her pokemon to the Nurse, feeling a bit sheepish that she was here healing her pokemon again so soon.

Looking around, most of the other’s weren’t back yet, but Neith recognised the new girl sitting in the back staring at the ceiling.
“Didn’t get any warmer clothes? Or are you saving them somewhere?” Neith asked, as she sat down on one of the other chairs near Rae.
“I saw earlier that your trainer card didn’t work. Do you have anywhere to sleep? You can share my room if you’d like?”

Kinnie came out of the shop holding an armful of poké balls. She had bought twenty because it seemed sensible in the moment to do so. It was lucky that they were small, because she was able to fit most of them in her bag. It was a tight squeeze, but thankfully nothing was overflowing. It was just fortunate that the egg had hatched...

She felt sufficiently stocked up on items, and elected to head back to the pokemon centre to assess her pokemon team. She remembered from her pokedex scanning that Beruga had been a bug type, and so had her kricketune. She knew that it was not wise to carry multiple pokemon of the same type, which she confirmed with a nurse inside the centre. The nurse suggested that she deposit one of her bug types to make room for a sixth slot in her team, and it was then that Kinnie learned about the legal maximum number of pokemon a trainer could register in their team at the one time. The remainder were kept inside a PC storage box, which the nurse also showed her.

To Kinnie's shock, there was a pokemon already inside. It was the starly that she had caught earlier. So that was where it had gone. Kinnie narrowed her eyes. This seemed like some type of magic.

After a good few minutes trying to process the technological possibilities of the world, Kinnie swapped out her kricketot for her starly.

Soon after, Kinnie elected to go in search of some food. She had not eaten since many hours before, and it had only just occurred to her how hungry she was. She departed the Pokemon Center in search of some place to eat. She figured she could use the money she had earned from some of the pokemon battles she had participated in.
