Matthias leaned back. He felt thoroughly sated. That had been a fantastic feed.

Davis said he could take a couple of boxes of food. He called over a waiter and pointed out the food that he wanted boxed up. This would last him a couple of days before he had to steal any more bread to keep from going hungry. he could be a fine upstanding member of society for a bit. That was cool.

Huh Davis was still talking and answering question. Oh well the others can deal with that. Matthias was busy digesting and slowly falling into a wonderful food coma. Before he could fall completely;y under, however, he heard Davis' next offer.

Davis offered them Key cards top get into some kind of Battle simulator. More battle practice after a fantastic lunch. This Davis guy was alright in Matthias' books.

"Battle simulator sound good to me. I want to show off some of the tricks I learned at the beginner trainer competition."

Matthias walked over to the assistant and took one of the Key-cards and thanked them. Before going to the battle simulator, he walked over to Sophie and flashed the Key-card.

"I got one!" he said with very pleased smile.

You are taken into makeup where you are made camera ready before being brought into a studio, warm from the lighting equipment. You are sat in a comfortable chair and given your juice and muffin. Once you finish them the interview begins. Hugo sits opposite you and asks the basic question.

Our questions were answered and I was slightly surprised that Dash knew my surname. I was even more shocked when Dash transformed, then disappeared. So this was a projection. And none of us knew better. I put the Poketch on my wrist, making a note to try and get an extra one for Renny, even if it meant telling Dash I lied about him being a Kleptomaniac.

I booted up the watch which was the most high tech gadget I had ever owned, and spent a few minutes getting the hang of its controls.

Before too long I had Matthias, whose attitude had changed from the ever cynical to the child with a new toy thanks to a full stomach, approach me with the keycard he had just recieved.

"Nice. I'm just about to go grab one myself." I replied, somewhat glad to see that he didnt appear to be holding a grudge after last night.

I made my way over to the assistant, taking a keycard and making my way to the fifth floor, wondering if Dash is actually there or if it will be another projection.

After testing out the watch-like device, Tony decided it would probably be smart to take it. And if he wasn’t using it a whole lot, or if an issue came up later, he could just turn it off. No big deal. He then spoke to the assistant, receiving a keycard of his own, but waiting for the others before he headed up, wanting to make sure nobody was left behind.

Renny was thrown off when he was taken to make up and given what he requested. This move disarmed him. He had not even provided the information yet. Once he was ready to speak he sat down across from Hugo with a light shining on him. It took a moment for his eyes to adjust.

"Starting with your arrival in Sinnoh, what is the story behind this footage and what brings you here to Jubilife City?" Hugo asked

Renny adjusted in the seat a little. This a little more than he had been expecting.
" I .." He paused
"We arrived here yesterday. I didn't really get to see the full scope of the event because when I was brought here I was out of it. I did however luckily snap a picture of a wormhole before it closed. If you can show that picture you can imagine what the sky around Twinleaf Town and Lake Verity looked like. Shortly after catching my barrings I made my way in the direction of other trainers who seemed to be as lost as I was. We were unfortunately greeted by the gang that I came to know as Team Galatic. The costumes looked a little different from my world but goons are goons. The grunts instructed everyone within earshot to avoid Lake Verity because it was officially closed. Since I wasn't from here I didn't know if your Team Galatic was maybe part of your law enforcement here. However, that quickly changed as a loud explosion what best could be described as dynamite being used sent shock waves through the trees. I was one of the first on the scene with a trainer named Kinnie. She acted very bravely in the face of the confusion. To my own discredit, I led us right into the hands of the rouges of the story. Without really harming us they tied us up and went back to working on whatever nefarious plans they had. The footage you are seeing takes place a little while later. Kinnie and I were saved by a shifty trainer named Matthias. Once we were both free I made my way to the camera and recorded footage of both Team Galatic in the middle of Lake Verity and of all the trainers that showed up to help us out and stop Team Galatic. I don't know if the footage really captured but for first-time trainers, they acted really bravely in the face of the unknown. Towards the end of the video, you will see what has become my personal motivation. The appearance of a pokemon known here as Mespret. I had to do some research to find out what it was. Mespret appeared in the center of the chaos and almost as soon as she appeared the battle shifted and Team Galatic was beaten." Renny paused taking a drink.

" As for why were are here in Jubilife City. After the battle with Team Galatic. Grey Beard or Professor Rowan as you call him. Helped us out and brought us back to his lab to ask for our help. He asked us to look into the matter. I'm not really the best to ask about mission specifics though. That would be the girl who looks like Alicen Parks. If you have seen the horror/gore film Chopping Mall you'll know the reference. She is actually the one leading the group. The final members are Tony and a tech girl, Neith. I think that's everyone."

The group was left to make their own choices. Dash' assistant waited nearby to hand out the key cards and give them access to the elevator.

The young lady who was handing out the cards smiled.
"Here you go. I think you should head up. The 5th floor is where we test a lot of new techs. I think you'll find support up there plus you can try out the battle simulator."

Matthias was the first one up to the 5th floor. As he got off the elevator he found himself in a waiting room with comfy lazy boy chairs, computer terminals and Xbox 1s set up to play. The lady at the desk smiled
" Welcome. We have rooms preped for you guys. Go ahead and find a room and use the keycard. Once inside you can select any pokemon you like to use, any. Then you select the difficulty of your opponent. There are other functions you can change for personal preference. At any time you can stop the simulation by hitting the red button on the control panel." She smiled giving him the option of any room.

Once inside he found that he could even pick the weather and terrain of the battle.

Sophie was next up after Matthias. She crossed through the waiting room to the desk where she was greeted. Unlike Matthias though Sophie was given a specific room number.
" Welcome! You're are the second guest today. We have a room G ready for you. Once inside you can select any pokemon from the world dex to battle with. Then you select the difficulty of your opponent. There are other functions you can change for personal perferenc. At any time you can stop the simulation by hitting the red button on the control panel."


Once inside you find the control panel and variety of options including changing the terrain, weather and even time of day.

Matthias entered the simulation room and approached the panel. It had Soooo many choices of Pokemon that Matthias was very quickly lost. He didn't want to look silly by asking for help so he randomly entered numbers into the Pokemon Center.

The assistant urged Tony to head on up, so he decided that he’d better do so. He headed up to the 5th floor and up to the desk with no more hesitation. “Hello.” he said, greeting the lady behind the desk.

" I hope you are able to use the footage to inform Sinnoh. I actually made a list of things that could help me. The items could be rented out to me or we could work out a deal where all my news worthy footage could be exclusive to your news network. We could discuss that more through email. " Renny said handing over the list which included a boom mic, tripod, basic equipment and finally a laptop for editing." Renny asked handing over the short list.

You enter in a randomised team with a difficulty of 85 percent. Once the team is up a a tray on the wall opens up and six pokemon balls that are for gameplay only appear. The simulator then flashes some over head lights and before your eyes the room transforms. You find the area around is now a skyscrapper at night in the middle of a thunderstorm. In front of you two pokemon appear.

Sophie programmed in a team that she wanted and set the bar high for herself. A panel behind her opened an the special sim balls appeared. She was curious about how difficult a battle with a legendary pokemon might be. After she entered in the pokemon. The room transformed into the most realistic simulation she had ever seen. She was now standing in the middle of forest at night. A small green pokemon appeared out of the shadows. Though this small pokemon didnt looks so scary or powerful. Its true power was beyond what Sophie could comprehended. In the simulator the power levels had been capped to be "beatable" but the levels were hardly reasonable.

Tony made his way up to check out the battle sims. At the front desk he was greeted by a friendly receptionist who explained he could pick any room not in use. He also would be able to pick his partners, his opponent and even got to set the landscape. She also let him know about the res button that stopped the simulator.

Matthias looked at the mess he had gotten himself into. A bunch of water types with a flying type,and a few extras against two giant electric types, one of which seemed to be way overpowered (the system labelled it as Mega).

Unable to find the "Run away button" Matthias settled in to take the best possible swipe at this system.

First of he needed to take out that Mega monstrosity.

OK lets not put a water type up against that. That would be foolish. Meditite lets see what you can do.

With a sickening crunch Matthias saw how little his Meditite could do, as the Mega Manectric bit it almost in half.

Well that didn't work, the giant Manectric didn't even pause before jumping back into the battle.

Panicking Mattjias grabbed the next ball and threw it out. Oh no it was a water type.

That thing just kept coming, Matthias tried to draw it away making it chase after the flying Pokemon he had been given. The Talonflame did its best but fell. Although the giant Pokemon was looking a bit beat up.

Fine! It was time to fight lightning with lightning. Matthias sent out his electric spider thingee, who spun a cool web of electricity and trapped the weakened giant Pokemon, defeating it.

With a screech the other Electric Pokemon swooped down from the sky to attack the electric spider thingee. It collided withthe electric web and took some damage, but kept going.

The Emolga tried to fly up high, but Matthias sent out Dewgong. He looked at the options and pressed the 'Ice beam' Attack. And hoo-boy was it effective. The Emolga fell to the rooftop taking a whole bunch of damage. It still managed to blast Dewgong with a lightning bolt, knocking the water type out.

With only one ball left, Matthias threw out the tentacool. He knew he was in trouble because it was a water type, plus it looked kind of 'icky'. Nut fortnately the Emolga had been damaged enough, that the huge type and evolution disadvantages were not enough for the emolga to win. With a gross slurping sound, the Tentacool defeated the emolga.

"This note is me offering you a job as a contractor on a casual basis. Because you are on a casual basis, there are no deadlines, contracts or expectations. You can walk out of here and never speak to me again if you'd like, however because of that, we can't just give you our equipment. But, because this would make you an employee, this would entitle you to a 25% discount on all of this equipment for you to buy yourself. We would pay you for any footage you forward to us, so, if you accept payment for this footage you just gave us, you would be able to purchase this equipment for yourself very easily. It would be yours, and you would avoid being contracted to us. And if you continue to send us good footage, you could continue to upgrade your equipment, whilst still retaining the freedom you have now."

"And as for this list, I started out like you. Being on the back end of the camera. So here is my advice." Hugo explained with a grin, "A boom pole is good for direct to camera dialogue, however a Rode Stereo Mic will do just as well, but also capture audio in intense scenes like the ones you showed me much better and easier than a boom mic. As for the tripod, that is a good starting point, however when you get a chance, look at a DJI Ronin S Stabilizer. It will give you the same steadiness on the camera in a much more portable system."

"Anyway, take it from me kid," Hugo explained gesturing to the note he had written, "This, is a much better opportunity for someone of your talents than being tied down in order to borrow some gear. Take the discount, take the money and make the most of it."

As the simulation started, I found myself in a forest that seemed all to familiar. After a second it hit me. Whilst it was a simulation, I recognized it as Ilex Forest. The forest that was in my very own backyard. I knew that there were myths about Celebi living there, and there used to be a shrine, but when I was a kid, some a**hole burnt it down...

After a few seconds it appeared. Celebi.

However instead of the gentle looking Pokemon my book depicted this one looked determined and ready to put up a hell of a fight.

As the battle finished and my last Pokemon fell, I figured I was right. Dad could teach me all he wanted, but that wouldn't be enough to bring down a Legendary Pokemon.

However once the battle finished, and it showed me the stats, I saw something surprising.

Whilst I hadn't defeated it, I had managed to get it to almost nothing with a team that was in theory, probably weaker than Dad's. That being said, the simulation probably doesn't do a legendary Pokemon justice, but it is a little ego boosting nonetheless.
