I started writing this the day before Max updated, but then he did and it's tumbled out from there. I can't keep up with Lychee.
I'll catch up more in my next post, but I guess the longer I wait the harder it gets to make a satisfying post that contains everything.

No, no, no! It wasn't supposed to be like this!

As Pat ran, so sure she that her trained legs and small frame would outpace Team Galactic and flee the mysterious men, she was struck by lightning -- at least she thought. In truth, she had no idea where the electrical attack had come from, whether it be a partner Pikachu, a wild Magnemite, or the divine wrath of mother nature herself. Maybe those "undercovers" had released Pokemon while she had her back turned. She just couldn't know.

The next thing she knew, Pat was being brought, along with the other detainees, to a nondescript jail cell. If she had had to describe it, she'd say it was roughly two-and-a-half meters square, grey brick walls on three sides, with the final wall instead consisting of floor-to-ceiling iron bars. There was a small window to the outdoors in the back of the cell, not only barred but also paned with glass to keep out the elements. There were two cots suspended from the wall, one above the other like bunk-beds; there was a bench on the wall opposite, and a metal toilet bowl along the back. Instead of concrete, the floor was made of hard-packed dirt.

They must not have had much experience with digging Pokemon, she thought, noting that no officers had thought to take her Pokemon from her. A good Diglett or even Rhyhorn would get them out right now -- but the only healthy Pokemon Pat had with her was that new Golbat, and she hadn't even really met it yet.

She'd been lost in her own thoughts for most of their short stay. Judging from what she could hear of the conversation Rae was having, Knuckles was in the next cell over, bragging about how Oberon was going to break him out. She sat with her head in her hands, trying to reconcile her expectation of authority with the reality of it all.

"He's right," Pat told Rae softly, sneakily wiping her eyes. She hated to give the creep any credit, but "I don't think they're gonna detain us for very long here. Coppers didn't even take our Pokemon from us, so they probably don't think we're much of a threat."

She almost suggested they form a plan in case things got worse, but just like that their time was up. A nondescript police officer, this one in uniform, came in and fed them some line about being in cahoots. Pat didn't like the sass... but she sure preferred it to the creepy, inhuman behaviour of the "undercovers" they had met on the route. If this is what the fuzz was like, then Sinnoh especially needed citizens advocates -- like a branch of Team Rocket.
