Palila beamed. Acceptance! Hooray! She was very pleased to have been allowed into the group- although immediately she became skeptical of whether they had truly accepted her, or whether these guys were just meaningless grunts who didn't have that power anyway. She thought about the uniform in her bag- no, they probably really were allowed to recruit people.

When Oberon mentioned distracting the cops, Palila tilted her head. They hadn't yet approached the rest of the group, who seemed to be chatting among themselves.
"You guys aren't committing any crimes, why worry? What are they gonna do?" She didn't know about their fake trainer ID cards, and was pretty sure most of the trainers weren't in galactic uniform at all. Except one- who was in, like, a team rocket fangirl uniform? Weird.
Palila frowned slightly, remembering that it was possible they already did some crimes before she arrived- especially if at least two of them were involved in the lake incident.

She let out her chatot, who plopped onto the ground in front of her and looked up, seemingly amused.
It copied her voice.
"You guys aren't committing any crimes-" It chirruped happily.
Palila grinned. Oh, perfect.
She tucked the Chatot hidden under one arm and ran up to the rest of group, not knowing why Oberon had hung back, but remembering seeing them all arrive at the same time and knowing they were his group.

"Hey dudes, I need you to have a little radio play with me-" She turned to anyone in the trainer group paying attention, trying to catch all these strangers eyes one at a time, then whispered.

"I'm gonna get Chatot to record our voices, oh no! Someone is being robbed! And then it is gonna go off behind the trees and do a playback. Should get these guys attention, and if they're cops, they'll have to respond to a robbery, which means they'll chase Chatot and then hopip off the path." She finished laying out the plan, then pursed her lips. This might need a few more details to be convincing.
"We'll also need someones pokemon to go out with Chatot- a pokemon who is good at shaking bushes and trees, kicking rocks and stones, and is a fast runner." She looked around at the group, frowning slightly "And possibly a pokemon that knows confusion, in case our pokemon get apprehended."

They were already out of the vocal range of the two suspicious men (which is why she could even tell them to do a distraction) so running a little voice-play would just look like a group of trainers chatting.
Palila shifted her Chatot and leaned in to it, putting on a little-old-lady kind of voice. It was playtime!
"Oh, what a lovely day, what lovely trees and honey smell- oh! Oh no! Who are you?"
She surreptitiously moved her chatot in to the centre of the group of trainers to get someone else to make up the next lines, then moved it back to herself after they had said something.
"Oh dear! But I'm alone! What do you want with me?"
Once again, a gap for someone else to play a different character.
"No! Help! You can't do this! Somebody help!"

As long as everyone in this team co-operated, she was satisfied to put the plan into action.

Palila was nodding along to the girl who almost managed to step up to the plate and think of some lines on the fly, but then everything stopped as Knuckles intervened. Palila took a step back, dropping the Chatot (which took flight, and actually flew off back towards Floaroma town, whoops! It was a little too high a level for her to control, so it appeared to just go off to do its own thing). She balled her fists, glaring up at him. Hell, if nobody in her last team would listen to her, if not even her POKEMON would listen to her, maybe she would have to MAKE people and pokemon listen to her. She was SO ready to throw down the gauntlet and battle this guy right here, right now. Stable emotions be damned, she had survived a Gyarados already today she was sure she could survive this punk.

At that point, the girl next to her shouted, and grabbed her wrist. Pulled off balance by the sideways movement, she was tugged along towards the undercover cops. She shouted over her shoulder and flipped Knuckles the bird.
"Oberon sent me, meathead! Come fight me, you towering pile of trash!"
Well whatever, every part of the plan was now a failure.
Palila was too angry to care.

She snatched her hand back out from the other girls grip once they were halfway to the suspicious looking lingering men, and sized up the other girl, wondering if Pat was also new to this dimension. That would explain why she would go to police- heck, Palila was all for going to the police multiple times so far. This was the first time somebody else seemed to suggest it, at least with body language. Her eyes widened slightly (and she wondered if this was probably the worst possible time to be secretly wearing Team Galactics uniform under her coat).
"I'm Rae" She introduced herself quickly, and put her hand back into Pats "Fine, you take the lead."
Maybe there was another plan brewing, maybe it was going to be chaos. Heck, maybe she was about to be bodyslammed from behind by an enraged teenage boy. Whatever was happening, it was going to go down quickly- she felt her adrenalin rise.

Palila nodded along with Pats story- it was close enough to the truth anyway, since the big guy probably did take Pat out here, and didn't seem in a good mood. She didn't really expect it was something worth calling the cops over, but when she looked down at the 5'4 girl, and then back over at the boy scraping 6 foot with two other suspicious dudes taller than both of them, she realized that the situation really COULD be a scary one. Weird, she hadn't even considered that- maybe it was because she was so used to traveling with Sophie, who just seemed like a relatively nonthreatening stressed out teenage girl.

As other trainers started to close in and ask for ID, Palila frowned. People in this dimension were obsessed with ID cards! In her Alola, people could literally surf from one island to another without being asked so much as a name- whereas here, she felt like she was being asked for ID three times a day.
Palila played the indignation to Pats confusion.
"Why do we need to show ID to you random men? Who do you think you are?"
That being said, there were now four fully grown adult men approaching them, not one of them had mentioned actually being police officers at all, and the aura was very threatening.
Palila put her one hand slowly into her jacket, squeezing a pokeball nervously. Ok, this was a little scary. Maybe she would have been better off trying to fight Knuckles instead of this.

At that point, Pat seemed to have decided to get the heck outta dodge, and yanked on her arm again, shouting some pokemon cursewords. Palila burst into a well-practiced run too, feeling a sick crawling sensation up her spine as she turned her back on the men trying to surround them. Maybe they had nets. Maybe they had hidden guns.
No, no, she couldn't keep her back to them like that. Who knows what they could be readying to level at her- this terrain was too open!
Once they made it past a honey tree and possibly past the team on the path, Palila swiveled on her heel, turning to face, well, everyone.
She threw down a Pokeball, and Dartrix came screaming out, having felt her fear.
"I don't know what you're playing at! Back off!" She shouted, angry and frightened.
"If you want a battle, come get one! If you don't, then leave us alone!"

Guns, they had guns.
Palila froze.

"Call your pokemon back now and get the ground!"

She watched as the guns shot electricity and some of the other Team Galactics toppled to the ground. This dimension really didn't mess around! Pokemon battles be damned, adults in this dimension were more likely to pull out guns. Firearms had been drawn and leveled at her almost every day since she arrived in Sinnoh. Considering she got into Pokemon training in order to be strong enough to protect people, this addition to the mix threw out her plan entirely. You can't bring Pokemon to a shootout. She made a mental note to find a way to get a weapon, gritting her teeth and raising her hands slowly, eyes watering.

It was horrible to feel so helpless.

"Please, please don't hurt me." She whimpered, and Dartrix retreated back into its ball.

Regardless of the sandstorm, Palila was probably too close to the man holding the taser gun to get away cleanly. She closed her eyes and held back a sob, wishing with all her being that she could just be teleported back home.

As she was handcuffed, Palila hung her head, fighting back tears. In one way it was a relief- clearly the guys were some sort of law enforcement even though none of them were in uniform or had identified themselves.
"I-I'm sorry sir... I thought you guys were hikers and joggers... in Alola you dont need to show ID to other trainers, you just battle them....I-I had no idea you were police..." She was embarrassed and ashamed, still red and teary as they walked towards town.

While she was worried about the fake ID stuff, she didn't even have much of an ID to examine. She wondered if the professor had talked to police about giving kids from out of the dimension ID cards... no, that wouldn't have happened. She wondered if she could legitimately get an ID through the police somehow- surely they'd need to keep a record of her with a name on it, right? She shook her head- they probably require paperwork or an adult guardian to fill out the forms. Her mind was ticking away- she really didn't want to have to go through this ID stuff again. It had been the bane of her existence since she first arrived.
She had a flicker of a memory that the professor had promised to have an ID card waiting for her in Entrana City, and she wondered if she should tell the police that- considering the professor's house had been blown up and implicated him in a terrorist massacre.
Palila pursed her lips. OK, maybe not.
She just couldn't tell what people in this dimension were going to do! In Alola when Team Skull punks were caught causing trouble, they were usually fined and scolded and put on a community service plan. She would just as often see Team Skull picking up trash as she would see them littering. She didn't even think Alola had a jail at all! But... this place was much more severe.

As they got put into the cell, Palila sat down onto the bench that was bolted to the back wall. It was cold, thank goodness- she had a reason to keep her jacket fully zipped up. Just in case anyone was listening, she chose her words carefully.
"Pat, I'm guessing you dont have your proper ID on you?" She didnt talk to the big guy- he was probably still angry, and last time she tried talking to him she was told to shut up. So, if he wanted to talk, he would have to be the one to start it.
"I lost my proper ID when I fell through a wormhole earlier-- I mean, if you can call a gyarados a worm, and a cave a hole." Hopefully that was enough information to get the point across.
She sighed.
"I've never been arrested before- do you guys know what happens next?"

Palila listened to knuckles explanation, wondering what it would be like to have a mugshot taken. It sounded like the old west or something! When he explained about the interview, Palila tilted her head slightly. Maybe he wasn't the best person to be taking advice from, actually.

"Being in prison a lot isnt exactly something to brag about, Mankey-brains." She snipped back at him, crossing her arms- unafraid because he was chained to the floor. Since the big guy was so happy to mention names, she figured the coast must have been clear enough to talk more freely.
"Besides, your precious suave leader 'Oberon' SENT me to make a distraction, so, if you're going to get mad at anyone get mad at him." She flung one leg over another huffily and looked up at the ceiling
"I technically did what was asked of me."

Palila looked over at Pat while Knuckles retorted, trying to communicate by rolling her eyes instead of vocally disagreeing with the guy chained to the floor in the next room.
"Sure, passimian-pal, you do dumb things when you're angry. I do dumb things when I'm freaking the chikorita out, and I reckon Pat probably just doesn't know how your stupid dimension works." Her voice dripped with disdain, but clearly she was trying to make a truce with all of the blame shifting.
"Talking about who stacked it the worst is boring. We all failed the trick and got our ankles smashed. Er... not literally." She realized that she slipped into skater slang and tried to fix her language. "Anyway, besides ending up in juvie, what are our other options?"
She pursed her lips.
"I don't really wanna chill in one place for very long, since there's some serious dragon-type trainer out there and I think he'll be trying to find and laser anyone who came through a portal. Uh. So. I'm really not keen to stay here more than one night, my dudes."
