Firstly; a Pokemon handling skill would be cool. Like how James from team rocket can get Pokemon on his side-- or sometimes they try to eat him. I'm assuming since we have no badge system and also will steal other people's pokemon, we could very realistically come up against the problem that our stolen ratatta will not chew through the wires on a mission, but instead run away and set off an alarm! Perhaps, though, this is unnecessary, since Pokemon are assumed to cooperate in most stories.

    Secondly!
In the discord, someone mentioned that if you don't put a skill point into a skill, you don't even get to roll for it and automatically fail! I assumed that the luck of the dice could still get you through, however unlikely it is. So, in order to be able to even able to get Palila to attempt things with any chance of success, I'll be putting 1 point into each skill, lol!

I responded to the first part of this multiple times yesterday. So I will keep this brief. What you are describing as a handling skill has already been a part of the general skills. For example, a medic character would need to be able to heal people and pokemon. A human couldn't do that too much on their own so the character would be able to have a pokemon partner that covers that. So pokemon will play a part in skills. My character Oberon has a Joltik that helps him steal. The skills roll is for the success of an action. By that I mean if you are a pickpocket. Your skill points will determine the success of your action. So a trained pokemon helping out but not always doing your skill is okay

As to why specifically handling skill will not work is because there would be no point for any of the other skills, sans hacking but even one could say a porygon could do that. The handling itself is part of a trainers journey and story. A skill that boosted that would be game breaking. A potential usable skill would be a human who can communicate with all pokemon. That would a power through which is something this story is not covering.

In response to number two, The dice rolls will be limited to the use of personal skills. This is not a full D&D role play. The very notion of these skills is limited to practical uses in the story. A normal D&D rp has a rp dm who rolls every single turn. This will not be how this works in gcea. Its more or less for moments when your character could help change the path or help the team move ahead.
