You head through the entrance to the Keep after the lycanroc guard allows you passage. The courtyard is fairly nice, complete with a bench and a lovely flower-populated garden. It looks to be well maintained, which you would expect.

Upon entering the Keep's main structure, head into a nearby room and begin to descend down a flight of stairs. It's fairly dim in here, so you pull out the stick from your tail which you regularly carry around and light it, using it as a torch. It illuminates the room, which contains a large table with multiple maps on it, as well as markers and small tokens which you imagine represent different factions, towns, leaders, trade routes, and whatever else. There is some other basic furniture, but overall you can tell that this room is not too commonly used.

You take a look around, finding multitudes of paperwork and records of conversations. Nothing much catches your attention until you see what looks to be a handwritten note stuffed into one of the drawers, and you pull it out to read it. You're not sure who "Frin" is, but you deduce that it could be a nickname for Frinottie.

=Note to Fikl= was noted in the Team Records.

There is no response to this, so you imagine that someone - Shilamora, a worker, or perhaps Orin himself - simply disposed of it potentially before Fikl could read it. It's impossible to tell, but after you look around a little more, you find evidence that Fikl is employed at the Keep to do maintenance and cleaning. The note seems to be purely speculation and opinion, but you keep it in mind to relay to your companions just in case.

You take a look around the rest of the room, then move onto the few general storage areas. You come across a few iron ingots, but nothing else particularly useful.

[Iron Ingot] x3 were added to Brass' Inventory.

Determining that there's nothing much more to look at here, you take your leave.

    Interview Rapport: VERY POSITIVE, INTIMIDATING

    +Intimidation Poison > Fairy

You look for Balene at her home. From the outside you can see that it’s a quaint little house with not too much to it in terms of decoration from the outside. You extend one of your vines to rap on the door, hoping Balene will be home the day after her mate was killed. You listen out for anything within the house, but nothing happens even after you knock a few more times. Curious, you walk around the side of the house, only to see the fluffy form of the cottonee with her back to you as she stares out into the swirling darkness in her farm.

Not wanting to scare her, you say her name and follow up with yours, but despite your initiative, she still visibly jumps, spinning around as quickly as she can to meet puffy red eyes with your own. You can see that every inch of fluff beneath her eyes is damp, and she is entirely crestfallen.

“Wh-what do you what?” she questions, voice unsteady as she begins to shake. She looks you up and down, visibly wary of you.

You stay at a distance and gently introduce yourself, explaining that you have come to discuss questions with her. The moment you mention Stalkers, her tired eyes well up once more and streams resume pouring down her cloudy body.

“They killed him. They killed my Bizzie. He’s gone, and it’s their fault!” she screams, and you worry that she's on the edge of a breakdown. It's understandable, of course, but it's not an easy thing to deal with. However, she seems to catch herself right before the point of no return, and begins breathing deeply to calm herself. She rotates away from you a little, her voice growing soft. "I...I don't even know what to do with the farm." She gestures hopelessly at the crops some distance away, adding, "They're lost to those shadows anyway..."

You take a few more steps forward, ensuring that you don't spook her, but offering yourself as a shoulder to cry on if need be. She seems to take this well, and turns back to you, wiping her face with a leaf.

"I'm sorry... I-is there any way I can help you today?" she asks, although you can tell that she's hoping you will say no. Instead, you lead with an offer to help her, and her face lightens up just a tad. "O-oh, yes...I...actually, I have a friend. His name is Kior and he went missing a few days ago. I would be ever so grateful if someone could look for him. I don't know what I would do if..." She stops herself there, closing her eyes for about five seconds as she breathes in deeply again and then releases her breath. She meets eyes with you again. "I would be very appreciative if you did this for me. He is a yungoose."

You recognise that pokémon species. At once you let her know that you and your companions found an injured yungoose, and just today, he was rescued from the clutches of the shadows in the farm, and he is currently at Black Dart Apothecary. Balene gasps and hope returns to her.

"You...you are serious?" she breathes, and tries to hold herself together before she breaks down again, flying straight into you and crying against your bulb for a few seconds. "I'm so relieved!" she tells you, a hint of a smile in her expression. "Thank you. Thank you so, so very much. Oh, thank you."

She pulls back, telling you to wait where you are, and rushes into her house. A minute or so later, she rushes back out with a large basket filled to the brim with berries.

"Please take these for you and your friends. And tell your friends - all of them - that they may have a fifty percent lifetime discount at my shop!" She sets the basket down and gives you a hug, wrapping her leaf-arms around you as her soft, cloud-like body presses into your side. It truly is like hugging a cloud.

It’s still early morning when you greet your fellow Emissaries, and pass your sitrus berry over to Lillian. It’s a generous thing to do, but something you’re willing to give up for the safety of your companions.

Then, you set out to Bizzie’s Berry Farm, which you were told by Carly was absolutely ridden with shadowy malevolence. A stray thought in your head can’t help but wonder if the evil that resides there is related to Bizzie’s death at all, but you are also fully aware that the two incidents are potentially not at all connected. Regardless, as you stand staring into the murky horror yourself, a sense of strong foreboding strokes your skin, and you can’t imagine what the poor yungoose who has been trapped in there for likely days is feeling. Using the helpless pokémon as your motivation, you creep onto the property, slowly delving deeper into the tendrils of swirling darkness.

As the sense of closing darkness descends upon you further, you break into a bolt, feeling leaves brush against you as the soft earth beneath your paws leave your imprints behind. Slowly you hear an increasing band of whispers seep into your ears and begin to gnaw at you from the inside. You try to shake it off, but they only sink their teeth in further until they’re the only thing you can hear, and the only thing filling your thoughts. Your breath is laboured and your limbs begin to fail as pain shoots through your muscles with every passing step. You try closing your eyes in an effort to drive away any part of what you're feeling, but doing so only gives you the horrible visage of one of the shadowy forms themselves, saliva dripping from pointed teeth and crackling red energy scaling its form. It’s void-like eyes pierce your soul, as if trying to force their way in. It feels like a dagger in every inch of your body, s̨t͜a͍̲͉͇̮̍͐̑͐b̟͈̘̳̮̣͈b͔̠̠̪̺̫͟i̴ṇ̝̹̦g͏ ̩͈̲͚̫ͅat you u͈͓ntil̯ pa̦̺͚̦͞rt of you b̟̣͎̠̥̮̯̀͂r̓ͦ̇̅ͩ͂̓͝e̤̱̽͌̇̓̽aķ͉̺̠s̛̺̮̞.̫̠̗̞̤͖̲

You focus on powering through to find the yungoose, shouting as loud as you can to try to give the pokémon some idea of where you are, but the words get caught in your throat and you feel yourself start choking on them. Various attempts to stop any percentage of this from happening merely result in louder voices and more painful scrapes into your flesh, and you can more tangibly feel your failure now than ever before. Helplessness taunts you as you run, panic escalating your poisoned mindset.

Snapping holes blink in and out of existence around you, capturing your limbs every few seconds and then vanishing again whilst trying to take them with you. Your body suddenly seizes up as you’re sprinting through the horrors around you, and you plummet into the dirt, dragging with you bits of undergrowth and fallen sticks. You hold onto the image of the plants around you, some semblance of normalcy in this disturbing place, and try to shake free the persisting darkness progressively swallowing you up.

It’s then that you hear a voice shouting, “Hello? Have you returned?!” and your ears prick up. This voice is not like the whispers. This voice sounds real.

You break away from the churning waves of corruption and follow the voice, navigating through the menacing talons and spikes of the crops, each one more threatening than the last. Finally you come to the small form of an injured yungoose lying in the midst of fallen, crumpled crops. The normal-type looks up at you, hope in his eyes, and asks if you're there to help him. You confirm that you are, despite the attempts of evil spirits trying to overwhelm you, and you wince as you lean down and start the process of healing him.

    {Wounded Yungoose: <Medicine>}

Satisfied with your work, you tell the yungoose that he should be fine for now, but that he probably needs further attention as soon as possible. The pokemon shakily stands, then thanks you, and offers to help you find a way out. He notes that you aren't looking too good, and, still feeling the corrosive sickness in your belly, you are inclined to agree.

The small normal-type begins leading you out of the property, and while he seems to be pretty unimpeded, you're constantly having to dodge fingers of darkness that spring up from below, or avoid the crashing energy whizzing around you. You can see more clearly now that there is an enormous spherical mass of darkness in the heart of the property, something that was seemingly invisible before the yungoose was healed. You don't know how, but you can determine that this is the source of the shadows.

{Corruption's Eye: <Seinaru>} was noted in the Team Records.

It's a harrowing experience, but finally you find yourself off the farm and away from the crops. You turn around, watching as the whipping, shapeless forms of darkness attempt to reach you, but are stopped by the confines of the property. Watching its failure brings you relief, and once you're sure that you're free of its grasp, you take some time to wind down and attempt to flush the negativity from your body.

The yungoose notices you and you reailse he's probably been watching you this whole time. "Are you...okay? Do you need me to take you to the apothecary?" he asks, but you politely decline, explaining that you have other means of recovery. "Okay...well, I'm heading there just to make sure I'm okay. Th...thank you very much for your help, Sir Pikachu." He deliberates for a moment and then springs forward, latching onto you in a hug. Then he pulls away and bids you farewell, leaving you along again.

You've heard about this place from your fellow Emissaries. It's just as dark and twisted as the last, and as you come to the border of the property, you can also feel the whirling negativity brewing inside you. The hisses of spirits tumble through the air and brush past your ears, tempting you to step forward and cross the threshold into their territory. You do want to cross over, but not for them.

Your paws hammer the ground as you take off and you race through the rows of crops. At first you can't the stormy mass of brewing dark energy in the centre, but as you delve further into the property, it begins to show itself. The closer you get to it, the more you can feel your limbs resisting you, as if refusing to obey your simple commands. The wind accelerates and hundreds of tiny mouths burst from the leaves around you and surround your form as you run. A cacophony of deafening shrieks, chortles and hisses encapsulate you as you force yourself onward, ̗̺̕d͡ṛ̼̮͎̭͙̯ͨ͛͛̿ͧ͛͋e̵͉̯a̖̞ͨ̿͘d̸̘̪͎͍́͐ͯ seeping into your stomach as you can̵̩̳͔̅̓͑̅̃͌ͤ ̱̜̮̗̣̉̈́ͮ̚ͅo͇̟̤̱ͩ̓̈́ͨ͟nly wait for the mouths to s͍͔̣̐͌t͐͌͌͑̀r̲͓͇̖̻̪̩̐͐̍̋ike.

All at once, the horrifying army of filed teeth and maddening laughter are drawn to you at once, as if you suddenly ma̛̱͇̭͉̲̯͑ͤ̓͗̾̂gnetised them. Immediately you feel your flesh being devoured by each one, tearing at shreds of your skin and spitting them aside. You are simultaneously being ripped apart, but retaining every scrap of skin. The feeling is horrifying, and you are entirely disabled as you trip over your own paws and skid into the dirt, eating a mouthful as the jaws continue g̰̭̦ň̮̪̱̘͉̽̾͐̑͂aw̯̱͎͉̤͓̠̐ͥ͋̀ị̴͕͙̭͈ng at y̟͈̤̼̝͙̺̆ͫo̸͐̅̈ͮu̖̫͈͎̙̦̝͛ͯ̋̂͜,͕̌̑̃ͬͬ̚ ͙̻̥̭̖̬ͅe̵̻̟ļ͔̰̺ͨ̑̊̐i̮̥͇͗c̜̎͂̚ͅi̫͚͚̬ͭ̽̔̆ͣ̊ͅtͪ̐̓ͥ̊̚ ̸i̭̹̱̾̾͆̅͜n̬ͥͪ̄͊ͪ͊g̦͙̕ ͔̺͖̩̮͙͐ͮͮ̄͒̾̕s̬̖̞̝̠͆c̔̈̊̅͏̘̝̬ͅr͓̤̈́̏̐͌͂͘ė͎̗̞͈͡ ̟am afteͭ͆ͦͫ́͋̿҉̻̮̠͕̳̩̣r̴̳̣̩̳ ͗s͔̩͙͉̥̤͉ͨͪ̅̋̃ͮc̖̫̦ͮ͞ͅream f̦͉͌͊̆͜rͩ̍̌̍̇͋͏̲̤̪ȍ̟͔̟̺̿̉̓͞m̩̜̤̗̝̭͟ ̨̼͔̻͖̳̪̟̍͋̄́y̦̠͔̥̞͇͌̇ͣ͊̆̅̿o͂̑͝u̞̥͙ͮ͞r͚͖̽͊ͭ̓̉͐̂ ̳̲ ͔͈̙͍͖ͬͤ̏̓ͧ̕t̒͆̏̀̈hroā̱̫ͫ́͛̆ṫ̷̯̫̲̟͉͈̱͌́.̶̟̱̩̆̈́̊̅̚ ̪̬ ̬̹̘̠ͬ͆ͧ͟

Somehow, amongst the masses of mouths, you spot the sinister silhouette of that same red-ringed umbreon watching you from a distance, eyes bleeding red and jagged maw stretched to impossible lengths. It simply sits, watching in de̵̻̟lighṫ̷̯̫̲̟͉͈̱͌́ as you are violently c̱̠͔̳̼̟͎̭͉̞̳̓͒̂̆͒̉̀̚͟͢͟͝ͅǫ́ͧ̊ͤ͆̉ͧ̎͞͏̫̲̯̦͍͚̙ns͆̌̊͗ ̶̵̢̦͇͉̰̥̫̣͇͈̞͓͚ͮ͌̈ͩ̃̂͐ͤ̇̉ͥͭ̌͜ų̶̛̤͔̺̞̬͊̓̐̂́m͗̈́͋̌͊̚ ̨̞̬̺̱̩͍̗̮̗̖̼̗̟̑̾̈́͑ͬ̉ͭ̍̽͑̓́̚͞͝͝ĕ̸͔̭͖̯̟͎͇̗̖̼͔͔ͨͣ͡dͭ ̶͎̺̱̗̹̖̲̹̘̘̺͍̈̒̌͟͞͠ by the tiny shadowy jaws.

Daniel the Umbreon suffers 5 points of Sanity damage.

Suddenly, the red-ringed umrbreon's attention is drawn away, and with that distraction comes momentary relief from the mouths, who cease their attacks. Springing to your feet, you bolt towards the umbreon, which only just notices you as you barrel through and send it sprawling through the dirt. Your heart thumps louder and faster than ever as you race straight towards the centre of the shadows, all the while invoking your Utopian powers and summoning the power to banish this mass of evil. The red-ringed umbreon, desperate and brimming with ire, leads the charge of the mouths and screeches incomprehensible things at you, getting dangerously close before it leaps, maw wide, eyes burning, and mouth-minions swarming.

With a final call of justice, you relinquish the energy building up within you and it explodes from your chest, vaporising the umbreon and its tiny floating mouths, and targeting the heart of the corruption. You also get knocked back, falling over yourself as your whole world goes bright and then settles.

    {Corruption's Eye: <Seinaru>}

Although it's night time, you can immediately tell that the shadows have gone. No longer do you hear the chatter of malicious beings, or the whispers of those wishing to cause you harm. Instead, you feel the peaceful night air brush your cheek. You can also feel a source of warmth, and upon looking toward a dim light, you wonder if there will again be an item of heavenly aura. You wade through the crops and see a glowing rod resting in some fallen leaves. The white rod is wrapped in intricate golden vines, which climb up to the light green orb and hold it in place. The orb itself radiates a peaceful energy that calms you completely when you look at it.

You approach it and reach out with a paw, feeling a define power wash over your body and heal what the corruption inflicted upon you.

Daniel the Umbreon recovers 4 points of Sanity and gains +2 temporary points.

You figure it best to take this rod with you, as it seems just as important as the spear you found at the abandoned manufacturing lot.

[Rod of Light] was added to the Team Inventory.

Feeling tired but somehow now hopeful, you leave Bizzie's Farm, hoping that Balene can now be at peace.

You have heard of the theatre in town, but have not yet visited it. As a result, you figure that it might be good to go and visit, so that's what you set out to do for the night. As you arrive, you decide to first search the exterior, so you head around the side of the theatre building to begin your search.

As you're looking around, you manage to find some splinters here and there, and pocket them.

    Added $23 SP$ to Sparkstrike's Inventory.

You continue on, noting the caravans nearby, and stop when you smell a faintly repugnant stench. It strengthens as you follow it, and eventually end up at the bottom of the theatre's wall. Something is stuck to it, so you begin to peel it off, only to realise that it's skin of some kind. You're disgusted, but you can feel that it gives off something vaguely sinister, so you figure that you should probably bring it back to base just in case.

[Slimy Skin Patch] was added to the Team Inventory.

Once you finish scoping the exterior, you head inside the theatre. You can see that there is not a play on tonight, but instead, you enter to find a small session of improvisation happening. Upon the stage you see a yellow oricorio opposite a pignite. The electric/flying type is explaining something to the pignite while a small, scattered audience watches, gathered around in the seats closest to the stage, until the two then back up, shake their limbs in preparation, then begin a scene.

You use this as an opportunity to scout the interior, heading between the rows of seats in search of anything noteworthy. During your search, you notice the small figure of a one-eyed pikipek watching you from atop a taller chair near the back of the theatre, where you entered. They look bored, and start making faces at you. You wait a moment, make a few faces back, and then vanish into a side room to continue searching. While you're rummaging through some of the props, old furniture, and paperwork, you come across a tipped page. Curious, you angle it so it catches the dim light coming in from the main hall.

=Dee'mang's Diary Entry= was noted in the Team Records.

You recognise both the names of Samba and Dee'mang, but before you can think of who they are, the little pikipek shows up in the doorway and you quickly turn so the page is behind your back. He asks in a very young voice what you're doing, and you stammer a little before making up something about wanting to see the theatre. He cocks his head, but doesn't think more of it as he offers you a tour. You accept, figuring it would be a good way to search the rest of the theatre, and he leads you out into the hall. You see from the corner of your eye that the oricorio on stage notices you with the pikipek, but continues on with the scene she's performing.

Although the small pokémon leads you through the remainder of the rooms, you do not find any further things that pique your interest. You thank the pikipek for showing you around and take your leave, noting that he seems fairly discouraged to see you go.
