Wow, for me unemployment insurance only lasted around six months. After that I just bled out money and that's not a fun arrangement. For me, 2016 was kinda scary for that. But I'll admit that kind of time off was... very nice and refreshing!
I also hate explaining resume gaps on interviews, and they ALWAYS ask about those. A three-month gap isn't too much of an issue but anything longer than that starts to raise questions. Well, in this case, everyone's been affected by COVID to some varying degree and that doesn't exactly throw open the doors for a great interviewing environment.
Seriously, though, I hope to not be laid off.
