Seriously, I would love it if I could keep this arrangement, but it sounds like they want to get everyone back in the office. And it sucks because we're moving to a new location and it's one of those lousy open floor plan arrangements where no one gets their own cube and you have to take everything with you when you leave because the desk you have one day may be a different one you get the next.

What usually happens in those kinds of environments is everyone ends up working from home anyway.
Yeah that sounds sucky. Hopefully you can find some way to keep your Emolga around there. It does sound nice being able to work from home. Cause gas prices are only going to shoot up now.

Wow, for me unemployment insurance only lasted around six months. After that I just bled out money and that's not a fun arrangement. For me, 2016 was kinda scary for that. But I'll admit that kind of time off was... very nice and refreshing!

I also hate explaining resume gaps on interviews, and they ALWAYS ask about those. A three-month gap isn't too much of an issue but anything longer than that starts to raise questions. Well, in this case, everyone's been affected by COVID to some varying degree and that doesn't exactly throw open the doors for a great interviewing environment.

Seriously, though, I hope to not be laid off.

Yeah when I was furloughed. It was very very nice to say the least. The boss was rude and totally uncalled for in his reasoning when he explained that to me later. Very untrue in his words. So now that he's not my boss anymore he can stuff it where the sun don't shine. I'll take that money and run. It was a nice payday for sure. Plus having that month off was nice. Would've been better if I had my PC and never sent it off for repair. Cause they didn't do a thing to fix it anyway.

COVID does make explaining resume gaps a little more...interesting. Most bosses seem to know what to do though. I got lucky with mine and presented myself in the best way possible. Where the competition I had seemed too lax. Maybe one of those that had been unemployed far too long and forgot to present himself in a "can do attitude."

Don't give up hope either of you. I'm sure something will come up soon AD

And Neo. I'm sure they'll get you back at the office and give everyone chances before laying anyone off. Just keep up that passion and I'm sure they'll have reason to keep you around.

Yeah, I don't think I'll be laid off, there's stuff I handle that no one knows how to do it (even though I've tried explaining it to them XD). So far I've only had positive feedback, which is good.

It's just if the budget gets too tight and they need to reduce headcount, there's that possibility, but like you said, hopefully that doesn't happen.

Reminds me of trying to handle the seed expirations at my old job. XD. Doing the safety walk it was listed on there, but NO ONE I asked knew how. It took me a year to figure it out cause they never gave me time to look into it. Then they told me to stop worrying about it and the safety walk. Then they get hit with a strike in an audit on them and wonder why. Hmmm...

Yeah I'm sure they look at value in terms of who handles what. If you shoulder your weight and they can see its something that helps benefit the company. You're in good standings

What kind of a work environment is this??? That sounds so counterintuitive!

You would think so yeah. Especially working in more than one place means others potentially passing the virus should it get around there even further. Doesn't make sense.

And those are exactly the kinds of reasons I need to justify just working from home. XD

But yeah, no one likes this new arrangement, but facilities are going with it since "it's the new trend." You know, lead paint and asbestos use were a trend at one point, too, but we certainly put an end to that, now...
