Actually fun fact that 2000 calorie recommendation isn’t actually scientifically accurate and is based on surveys of dieting adults in the US from the 1990s. When it comes to caloric intake every person’s body is different so they actually recommend using like a fitness tracker to figure out what your average caloric intake is over two weeks, then if you want to lose weight you work to lower it by 300-500 calories depending on how much your average is. But the range for an adult can actually be anywhere between 1500-3000 calories a day, so you might have more flexibility than you realize.

Don’t even get me started on sodium. I’m limited to around 1000-1500 mg a day because of my new medical condition and it is ROUGH. I’m pretty much guaranteed to have to have at least one meal a day that’s either pasta or rice because they have pretty much no sodium in them (unless you add like cheese or butter), because the combination of breakfast and lunch/dinner, regardless of what it is has such high sodium that it’ll knock out my allotted sodium for the rest of the day. I have to have pretty much exclusively eat Swiss cheese because the sodium content of all the others is too high to have regularly. Soups are pretty much a no go. Most chips, fast food, and other like junk or fried foods are out too because again, too much sodium. Most meat is out too because salt is used as a preservative so like any sort of pork or beef is just completely out and chicken is on thin ice. It depends on the brand for that.

I’ve gotten around it some with like low sodium chips and getting grilled chicken or no salt fries from fast food restaurants but you never really realize how much sodium is in stuff until you can’t have it. Like we were looking at ordering pizza a few weeks back and legitimately like I couldn’t have more than a single slice of Dominos because it was like 500 mg a slice or something. It’s nuts.

Everyone been enjoying this pre-Christmas so far? Christmas music has begun in full swing here.

Haven't heard any Christmas music yet, at least not a full song. The supermarket where I shop has had a few holiday-themed promotions with little holiday jingles in the background, but not full on Christmas songs.

And yeah, they don't play music where I work either, but I'd rather hear that than hear all the conversations people are having around me.

They were playing Christmas music back when I was in the hospital in September. Ngl was kinda peeved that Christmas was very encroaching on spooky season's territory LMAO.

I'm not quite in the Christmas mood yet but I anticipate that'll change in the next week or so after I take some time to rest from my spooky season Hallowtide celebrations.

I can't feel the holiday season yet too, mostly because of work and other stuff but tbh my only indicator that its Christmastime is the chill in the air lmao

Definitely not looking forward to December in DC. Even if I’m stuck indoors I anticipate it’ll still be quite chilly. Though DC is a swamp, so maybe it won’t be that bad? I’m not entirely sure what to expect.

I imagine DC is a hit or miss. Especially since NJ actually is only like a 3 hour drive from there. So some winter weather won't be too out there. Still you're lucky to be able to work your dream job!

I'd love to be able to work somewhere cooler with some real winter weather without going bankrupt. I'm sure even if I did move somewhere up north. There would be a period where I've got to get used to the new climate. Same would be for you I'd imagine.

Yeah it was getting pretty chilly the last few weeks in DC, so who knows. At least I won't have to walk to work in the cold though haha! Perks of being forcibly home bound I guess.

And yeah definitely very appreciative I get to work my dream job, regardless of weather. The fact that they've been so cooperative and willing to work with me through all this immunocompromised mess is something I am grateful for every day, because they really are going above and beyond to accommodate me.

I personally don't have a "dream job." Honestly there isn't something I "dream" of doing. Not really. Somehow if I could work from home yeah, but I'd need something enough to support and sustain myself with money. and moving up north somewhere wouldn't hurt to avoid this year round heat but you all hear that from me too much. xD
