Yeah, the old development notes and info basically explains all the thought processes. And most of the Stalkers follow that same pattern, though for some Stalkers (Overkill, Huskpuppet), the approach was drastically different.
I had several different theories about what might happen with Overkill (Yandil the Smeargle) and it was quite the amusing social experiment into reverse psychology just to see what would happen. Even after confirming with utmost 99.99% certainty, no one wanted to take the plunge and actually exorcism him out of that slight slight chance maybe everything was wrong or it just seemed too easy. But yeah, that was my golden confirmation that people tend to be extremely risk adverse in Stalkers.
Meanwhile, Huskpuppet... yeah, that was one of those Stalkers that would have dragged on for a LONG time if I had Season 5 stay the course normally. 9 instances of combat didn't seem that daunting at first, but oof, during the course of the game it felt like it would never finish. At most, I should have only had like 4 or 5 instances instead.
Personally, I like it much better without combat. Sure, there are a few instances where I could have had some fighting thing going on, but there honestly wouldn't have been that many occasions where that would happen. Just didn't seem worth it to bring back the whole system for what would be a few combat encounters.
