It did not. They retired that balloon and replaced it with this one.

Yeah, this was a cool balloon, but it makes me wonder what became of the other two. Both of them were pretty cool in their own right.

I loved the new balloon this year as well! Too bad the cheeks on this one don't spark or flash. At least it's a new awesome design and much more festive to fit the parade now. Guess I'll have to make a trip back to NYC to see the new one now xD

I wonder why they changed balloons. The Light Up Cheeks Pikachu Balloon has only been around since BW which was less then five years ago. I do like this new one though. It fits the theme of the parade much better.

I figure it's because the started having too many issues with it. Like keeping the lights working for the cheeks and patching any hole in it. I remember 2012 the ears went completely flat during the parade. They fixed it the next year, but I guess they decided to go ahead and make a new on and not have to worry about all the maintenece for it and to just make a new, more holiday or festive looking Pikachu balloon. It definitely does fit the season much better.
