New Pikachu Balloon Flies in Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade!

I wonder why they changed balloons. The Light Up Cheeks Pikachu Balloon has only been around since BW which was less then five years ago. I do like this new one though. It fits the theme of the parade much better.

I figure it's because the started having too many issues with it. Like keeping the lights working for the cheeks and patching any hole in it. I remember 2012 the ears went completely flat during the parade. They fixed it the next year, but I guess they decided to go ahead and make a new on and not have to worry about all the maintenece for it and to just make a new, more holiday or festive looking Pikachu balloon. It definitely does fit the season much better.

I remember the year that the ears were deflated. That was quite funny but I understand your reasoning. I guess keeping the lights on Pikachu was just too much work.
