Sloane stood preparing for the next battle. In the distance someone caught her eye. The trainer was there one second and gone the next. She looked like a Kimono girl from Sloanes past. "Aithne" she thought to herself. Aithne was the top student in school she was disciplined, strong willed and creative but she had a dark side to her. While she was disciplined in training she had no interest in the traditions and morals being taught. Without Sloane knowing why the two grew apart and a tension started between them. Aithne was the only trainer ever asked to level the Kimono Girls for violence. It had been years until ...right now.

She moved forward looking for the trainer when she heard her voice.

Fallen Kimono Aithne

"Attention to detail was never really your thing." She spoke in dismissive way.

"I am surprised the Kimonos let such a valuable asset go out into the world alone. It could be very dangerous out here for such a gentle spirit."

On other end Max called out his team. The team was a little tired but ready to battle

As Max worked with his team Goldie started to light up. After its transformation a golden lion stood in front of him.

"Look at you .." Max smiled.

" I feel bad for the next guy we battle."

Luxrays ears popped up.

"I wouldn't feel to bad." the man said calmly

"Section 3 have more than two badges. Not even a league champ is making his way through us easily."

Zenith looked at the pokemon Luis sent out. Hm... this'll be tricky, but I think I can win this, she thought. She then sent outher own pokemon.

Battle!

Zenith smiled as she returned her pokemon. "Great battle! I gotta admit, it was a little tricky. You have skills, though."

Just then, Sou's Kirlia, Lyna, began to glow, and in its place was a beautiful Gardevoir. Sou was happy and congratulated Lyna as well.

"Congrats you two!" Zenith said, smiling. "We'd better get moving, we don't wanna fall behind! Race ya!" She then ran off ahead along the bridge.

Zenith was concerned, however. Oran, Ila and Calder were fainted, Dagger was very weak, Kamau was still at full strength, but Aria was her weakest pokemon. Her odds were getting slimmer. She wished she had bought some Potions at the PokeMart in Cerulean City. She made a mental note to buy some when they got back to the city, along with anything else she might need.

Sloane tapped her cane against the ground three times, spun on her heel and clicked open her pokedex to check her team's stats. She smirked a little when she saw that some of them had leveled up during their training.

Sloane noticed something odd about Chaac's status and sent out the Luxio. Instantly he began to glow. The Luxio grew in shape, a mane forming, his tail lengthening, and his build growing. When the light dispersed, Chaac cried out. Sloane smiled and pet Chaac. "Chaac, you evolved!"

And then Sloane spotted Aithne, and any joy she had felt over Chaac's evolution dispersed.

Oh this girl was infuriating! Aithne had really learned to push Sloane's buttons over the years before she had been forced to leave. Sloane narrowed her eyes and leaned on her cane. Parashu whimpered from Sloane's shoulder, as if able to sense the fight about to break out.

"Who you calling a gentle spirit?" Sloane snapped back. "I've just fine out in the wild since I left the sanctuary. Even caught this little guy. And that wasn't even that long of time. What do you have to show for your time in exile? Still wearing your Kimono gear like a wannabe fan. Truly despicable. Even Lord Ho-oh would be embarrassed for you. Except, oh wait, he isn't, because you tarnished our good name with your violence." Sloane spit at Aithne's feet. "At least I'm still respected by them. You, on the other hand, don't have a shred of dignity left in the entire region of Johto. To be honest, I'm not even sure why I'm talking to you because you aren't even worth my time."

"The Kimonos follow lord Ho-Oh but the lord is hardly the only being of power worth following. Their silly little outdated traditions got old. Silly little Kimono. You dont get respect you earn it which I have clearly done. You speak to me about dignity as if you know anything about the world beyond your bubble." She stretched her arms behind her.

" What do I have to show for my time.." she smiled

"I have been through two different regions and I follow a new master. One who power does not require a bunch of old hens to sit around doing nothing their whole lives." She snapped back.

"You are the product of weak trainers and now youll finally get a real test." She smiled

Max stood twenty feet away talking with the trainer.

"Im hoping thats the case" Max smiled

"Tell me league champ..do you even remember what it was like to just be apart of the world instead of acting as if you live above it?"

On the other end of the bridge Zenith was about to run into a bit of rival of her own. As Sou and Zenith walked up to the next group they noticed a few trainers runing off with badly injured pokemon. In the mix of trainers and a frenzy shouting. Three trainers stood singled out from everyone else.

"Arceus, how pathetic these trainers are..." Vic laughed

Tony stood there scanning the crowd.
"Unskilled and arrogant to say the least. "

The youngest brother Joey just laughed in agreement.

Parashu growled from Sloane's shoulder, as if he disapproved of Aithne's comments. Sloane pat the little guy's head to calm him before tilting slightly to the side on her cane.

"I'll acknowledge that there are other legendaries worthy of following. There are plenty just as powerful if not more so than Lord Ho-oh and everyone is entitled to their own beliefs. However, any legendary willing to let you be their follower is hardly worth being considered a legendary in its own right." Sloane smiled a little to hide the fact that her knee was beginning to hurt. She shifted slightly onto her other leg, then continued, "and two regions is hardly something to boast about when there's so many across the globe. My partner, Max, has been to at least four. And those are only the ones he's mentioned. But, you've peaked my curiosity. Pray tell, who might it be that you are following now, Aithne?"

Sloane narrowed her eyes at the weak trainers comment. Lady Ignus would have Aithne's head for that. Sloane knew she was probably no match for Aithne with her Pokemon in their current condition, but if she backed out, it would be more shame than she could handle. Sloane would have to play this carefully.

"A test? Come now, really? I'd hardly call it a test if my Pokemon have already sustained damage while yours are at full health. We wouldn't be able to test the potential of me or my Pokemon if their strength isn't up. I mean, we could still battle, but where's the glory in taking down a weakened opponent?"

Sou was still smiling as she looked at her newly evolved Gardevoir, when she heard Zenith give her congrats as well. ”Thanks Zen! It’s get when you get to see your Pokemon evolve. But you’re right, best to keep moving so we don’t fall behind” she said with a giggle, when Zenith started to run ahead of her after starting the second part of their earlier race. ”Oh yeah? You’re on!” she said with an excited smile as she ran after her along the bridge. As she ran, she thought back to her partner’s who had taken on quite a bit of damage in their battles so far. Luckily, she had a couple of potions in case they were needed, which seemed like it would most likely be the case. As they came toward’s the end of the bridge, she watched as a few trainer’s were running away from a group of guys, their Pokemon pretty badly injured. This made Sou frown a bit as she slowed to a stop, scanning through the crowd of trainer’s. Three of them stood out from the rest of them, muttering things about the trainer’s in the crowd.

”What’s going on here? Who are those guys? Sou muttered as she looked at the three.

Zenith continued to run along the bridge, but came to a stop as she saw a crowd of trainers run away with badly injured pokemon. "What in the world...?" she muttered.

As Zenith looked around, she spotted three trainers that stood out from the rest of the others. Her eyes widened in shock as she recognized them. They were the brothers who had bullied the assistant of one of the Pewter Museum's researchers. Anger surged through her, but she kept herself from lashing out. She went up to the boys, glaring at them.

"You punks again, huh? Still getting your kicks from bullying other people, I see," Zenith said. "I guess you just don't learn, do you?"

With her team fully healed, Sloane had no choice to face Aithne now. Parashu nuzzled Sloane slightly, giving the girl confidence. She smirked and prepped a Pokeball.

"I see our love of dark types is still one of the few things we share," Sloane commented.

Sloane cheered as Parashu managed to deal the finishing blow. The shiny Sandshrew was barely hanging on. Dazed, he stumbled back to Sloane's open arms. She picked him and placed him on her shoulder.

"Good job, Parashu!" The Sandshrew closed his eyes and rested on Sloane's shoulder. Sloane looked back at the fallen Kimono and smirked. "You were saying?"

Sou frowned a bit as her question was essentially ignored, scratching her head when Zenith stepped forward. The way she spoke made it seem like she had met these guys before and by the tone of her voice, it wasn’t a pleasant experience before. Though, seeing how these guys were acting, it sure didn’t seem like they were the friendly type and before she knew it, they were both being challenged by two members of the trio. Her Pokemon were already really injured from the last two fights, so she wasn’t too sure how well she’d fair against a third opponent. She’d have to make good use of her items.

”I may not be Max, but I’ll sure give it my best shot!” she said back to the trainer after he said he had hoped for a rematch with Max. It seemed like a lot of people who knew he was, yet when she first came across him, she thought he was just another trainer like she was. She reached back onto her belt, grabbing Flaire’s Pokeball and flung it out to start this battle. ”Let’s show them Flaire!’ she called.

After what felt like the longest battle of her life, Sou managed to pull a victory just barely over her opponent. Most of her team was wiped out and needed a Pokemon center as soon as possible from the looks of it. Nonetheless, she was proud of her team for pulling through the fight while already pretty tired. [b]great job guys…you deserve a nice rest. Thanks.”[/b[ she whispered before looking to her blond haired opponent. ”I don’t know who you are, but you shouldn’t be bullying others. Being that I won this fight, I guess it wasn’t a waste of time after all then huh?” she said before glancing over at Zenith and her fight with the other trainer. That guy had called her a ‘little dove’, which kinda made her question their relationship.
