When Professor Oak began explaining about how his Pokemon got out, I tuned out, and noticed one of the lab assistants who was handing out Pokemon. Exactly what I came for. I snuck aside and moved to the assistant. When she was free, I moved over to her and spoke.

"Rough morning eh?" I said with a grin, "Wasn't expecting to see pandemonium when I walked in the door."

"Anyway, I came here to choose my starter Pokemon." I said, "My name is Ethan Wright. I applied online a little while back for a Charmander?"

Once I had the Pokeball, I let the charmander out, and looked down at it. It looked at me in awe. It was still quite young.

"First things first we have to name you, little guy. What do you think of Spike, or Drake?" I said. The charmanders expression turned to anger after I said those words. It spat a small ember at my feet. Suddenly I realized where I went wrong.

"But your not little guy are you?" I said slowly. Charmander started to grin. "What about Cynder?"

Cynder continued to smile, so the name stuck.

In my peripheral vision, I noticed the small girl next to me look up at me for a moment. I looked over gave her a brief smile. As I looked over I noticed the guy who came in before me walk over to an assistant and receive a Charmander. As the trainer spoke with his new Pokemon, I moved over and handed the assistant my forms. She responded by handing me a Pokeball.

I let the Squirtle I requested out of it's Pokeball. The first thing it did was tackle the other trainers Charmander.

"Crap, I am so sorry!" I said to the other trainer, grabbing my new Pokemon off his, who looked rather shocked. "I had no idea he was like that when I let him out."

"Don't worry about it." He said calmly, "You had no way of knowing, and Cynder doesn't seem hurt. Just a little shaken up."

I was glad the trainer was so calm about it. I held the squirtle in front of me.

"After that display I think I will call you Brutus." I said. However before anything else happened I noticed something strange about the other trainer. His posture and mannerisms were near identical to my own. He was even tapping his foot like I was. At the exact same tempo. It was like we were two puppets controlled by the same puppetmaster.

When I zoomed back into reality, I made my way back to where I was standing before.
