" Just a really tough day is all." He said looking down.

"No matter how long you train for its always hard to lose a friend." He sighed.

No amount of training could ever prepare someone to deal with the loss of pokemon. Max had spent years traveling and in all that time he only lost three pokemon. Max had not spend much time with the Pidgey, had not gotten a chance to bound properly with it. Yet in his weakest moment on the journey the pokemon came out to protect him.

Max attention drifted away from the conversation. After a moment it came back.
