Sou sighed as the first wave seemed to be over, believing that was the last of them. ”That was an ordeal-“ she was about to comment when Max spoke up about something stressing the zubat out. He was right and by the sound of it, more of the zubat were probably about to pass through them. If it was anything like the first wave, she was ready for them with Kirlia already out of her ball in preperation. That was about when she finally caught sight of the second wave, three times as large as the first one they had handled. ”Oh pokebiscuits…”. she muttered as she tossed out two more of her poke balls to help take out any zubat headed in her direction. In a flash of light came Kaden, the Mankey and Ria the Wartortle to help clear them out. As if on que, Lyna knew to do the same from before with a confusion attack on one while Kaden and Ria took care of one themselves. Ria used water gun on Sou’s command while Kaden, didn't wait and leapt at one of them impatiently. He managed to take out the zubat but got himself knocked out at the same time. ”ouch Kaden….well, you did take it out, so good job” she said chuckling a bit as she returned the Mankey to its poke ball.

That battle had definitely taken it’s toll on her team as she looked over at the others. Ethan’s pokemon looked pretty healthy, easily taking them all out with just one of his pokemon. ”whoa…” she muttered, scratching the back of her neck.

Zenith had Freefall take out more of the Zubat. She crawled over to a large rock and hid behind it. She watched as Sou took out some Zubat of her own, while Orion caught one for himself.

This is why I hate Zubats... they're so annoying! Zenith thought, gritting her teeth.

Zenith kept having Freefall fend off the Zubat, hoping the swarm would end soon.

After calling poor fainted Lila back. Max called over the little Nidoran picking her up to avoid any of the loose bats diving down at her.

" I heard they were testing out a low frequency sound years back for military purposes. What if they are using a sound based weapon to cause the pokemon in the cave to attack!" Max said worried.

He picked up the pace as he headed into the belly of the beast. (Orion can still battle his three :) Just make sure to catch up in the post.)

As they made there through. They all began to pick up the a slight headache. A confused trainer ran towards them...
"The pokemon are attacking form all over.." He said falling down.

Zenith followed after Max, a concerned look on her face. "A low-frequency sound weapon? That's not good..." she said.

As they continued along, Zenith began to get a headache. Suddenly, a trainer that was obviously confused came towards them.

"The pokemon are attacking from all over.." The trainer said, falling down.

"Pokemon are attacking all over? This is bad..." Zenith said. She turned to Max. "What now, Max? I don't like the sound of this..."

She looked over at the collapsed trainer, wanting to help him, but in his confused state, it might not have been a good idea to approach him. "How should we approach him, Max? We need to help him regain his senses somehow. He might have some information."

Sou watched Zenith from where she stood behind a rock herself, after she had taken out some zubat of course. Zenith seemed to be suffering the most out of the group and that made her ponder if she had a bad experience with them in the past. ”what could have made them all come at us like that..?” she thought when she heard Zenith ask Max if he possibly knew what was causing the Zubat to act this way. She wasn’t too surprised Max had some knowledge on the happenings of this cave, but it did seem a little weird for him to know about military information. Perhaps it was public information and she simply had not known since she was not a native to Kanto. ”A sound based weapon….. but why? What would be the point in making some zubat attack people or possibly other pokemon in the cave? What could a person gain from causing these pokemon pain? she thought, but didn’t have the time to think on it much more as Max was in a rush to find out what was going on. Pondering about it wasn’t going to solve the problem anyway and followed after Max as he headed for the source of the disturbance.

As she followed alongside the group, she began to feel a slight pain in her head as they walked. ”A headache?..now? why?” she thought, a hand to her head when a rather confused trainer fell down near them. "The pokemon are attacking form all over.." he stated, Sou frowning in response as she moved to try and help the trainer to his feet. The poor trainer needed help, and while it might not have been the best idea for her just to walk on over and approach him in this state, doing nothing wasn’t going to get them answers. ”Are you alright?” she asked as she tried to help him stand.

All the acoustics physics stuff is truth. None is made up!

As we continued through the cave, I felt myself get a headache. After Max mentioned the low frequency sounds used by the military, I remembered the acoustics unit we did last year at university. Part of that included a work placement. 4 hours a week working with an audio engineer to set up live venues and studios.

The headache became worse, and I tried to think of anything to relieve the pressure that was building up in my head.

Sound is made up of vibrations in the air. The faster these vibrations, the higher pitched the sounds. For every vibration cycle per second, the frequency is 1 Hz. 5 cycles per second is 5 HZ. The human hearing range is 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz.

Suddenly I remembered the key to a bit of releif. Phase reversal.



If there are two sounds at the same frequency, but with a horizontally mirrored wave, the sounds cancel out.

"Guys, I might be able to help with the headaches." I said, pulling out my laptop, "I studied acoustics as part of my physics course last year, and if I am lucky I might still have... Got it."

I found what I was looking for. The frequency generator app on my laptop that I used back in the work placement. We would test different frequencies in the rooms we helped design, seeing which spots would cancel out, and which would amplify.

I opened the app, and pressed the phase reverse button. This would flip the frequencies the laptop put out.

As we walked for the next ten minutes, I had the laptop play different frequencies, between 1Hz and 20 Hz. The frequencies too low for humans to hear. The closer I would get to finding the frequency being used to upset the Pokemon here, the more it would cancel out the area near us, and provide some relief to the headache. Finally I found it. 12Hz.

With the reversed 12Hz frequency playing, I felt the headache lighten. Though my head still hurt, it wasn't as bad.

"That feel better?" I asked.

Ethan pulled out a laptop that helped counter the sound. This only worked temporarily. As the ground below him started to crumble enough to pull him down. The drop knocked the battery out of the laptop. (The laptop was fine but the battary slide off into the dust.. No short cuts here man ;))
