Max moved through the crowd and up the guy standing on box. He pushed the man to the side and took his walkie.
" What is all this talk about a big bad bridge troll.? Do you people know who you have standing here in front of you?"

Some of the trainers began to pause and turn to Max.

"Who is this guy?"

"He looks like the hoenn.."

"Is that ..Mmm"

"thanks MAX!"

"No way, he is bigger than that..tougher looking.."

After waiting a moment he called out.

"Yes it is me, Max the world famous Hoenn league champion. The Orange Island champion and the savior of Orre. I have traveled the world to come here to Kanto to challenge the Indigo league..but before I can do that I was told that this crossing was a hot spot for tough trainers. However I got here and all I see is this joker on a box saying the bridge is closed. I didnt come here to be turned away and neither did my partner Sloane. She came here to test this bridge to see if it is worthy of being added to my list of trainer hot spots."

Max smiled and looked over at Sloane.

"And now its enough talking we are going to find out who claims to be the top of the top here and we are going to clear this bridge. Of its phony champions.."

Max jumped down and walked over to Sloane.
"Put your head up" he smiled "Everyones watching"

the distraction worked to give Zenith and Sou a more clear path. On their end the Ace Trainers stopped talking and turned to them.

"Excuse me??"

"What do you want kid?"

Sloane watched as Max made his way to the box where the guy making the announcements was standing. She couldn't help but smile a little as Max ushered himself onto the box and took the speaker from the guy. Max introduced himself and Sloane had to admit, she was quite impressed by his credentials. Given the mumblings from trainers around her, he was quite well known for these accomplishments. And Max mentioned Sloane, and all the amusement she had felt mere seconds before drained right out of her.

Sloane paled considerably. She was going to test the bridge? Oh no. No no no! Up to thus far, Sloane had barely made it through most of the challenging battles she had faced. How in Kanto did Max expect her to live up to the reputation he was setting up for her? Suddenly keeping out Parashu made quite a bit of sense. Max smiled at Sloane and if his goal had been to tick people off, he had done well. Sloane wasn't too happy.

When Max returned to her side, she gave him an "are you crazy!?" look but didn't say anything. Instead, Sloane merely shifted her weight off her walking stick and slung it over her left shoulder. Cocking her head high and straightening a little, Sloane feigned confidence, giving any who cast a glance her way a demeaning glare. Sloane inwardly laughed at herself. The Kimono Girls would not be pleased to know she had already mastered their signature stare that always scared their trainees into doing their chores.

As the two walked Max opened up.
" I dont have to be a psychic to read your expressions, ya know.. I probable should have asked before throwing your name out there but it was going to happen anyways. Like it or not if the Kimono Girls sent you down this path they must have wanted you to experience the spectrum of how it is to be really be a trainer. That means you, I and our friends are going to experince everything from lose to the appreciation of someone you saved. See to be me pokemon trainers live more or a selfish life...I know because I lived the life. It wasnt until I became a pokemon master that I really understood that being a master isnt about a pokedex or gold..its about mastering your understanding or world around you and becoming one with your team and friends. " Max smiled

"Though, Im still looking for some glory really the truth is. Deep down inside I still perfer the long periods of time where I was held up in a cave, or camped out in the deep forest or even hold up on small island with only bait and my pokemon to keep me company as I waited for the currents years patterns to change so maybe..just maybe that one rare fish would appear at the right spot..I have spent many weeks alone with nothing but a journal and my sketch pad. Its part of the my journey...being a showmen is just different mask you wear because its what people expect and deep down some want you to be that. I am not ashamed to have won the battles I won, but that hardly defines who I am..or who you will be." He smiled

"Now then..Training beings..here..." He laughed

Sloane nodded as they walked. Her grip tightened slightly on her walking stick. There was truth in Max's words, but Sloane found little comfort in his initial speech. Why did this matter now? Were they back on the whole humility thing? She sighed a little and said,

"Well in case you haven't noticed, I'm not exactly one who masks her emotions well. I'm more of a wear my heart on my sleeve kind of gal. And humility isn't something I enjoy either. So if the Kimono Girls wanted me to experience pride and glory, well then, I agree, they've picked the right occupation for me."

Sloane listened as Max described his experiences with traveling. She thought about her own experiences with Altea and traveling from Johto to this point. It had been long and grueling, but also enlightening. Sloane had formed bonds with Pokemon that she, otherwise, would have never met.

"I get what you mean," she responded quietly. "Everyone has their own inner sense of pride. I want to return to my fellow trainees when this is all over and show them that, unlike everything they've said about me, I'm not some sort of weak link in the group."

That's when something else registered. Sloane closed her eyes and tilted her head up into the nice cool breeze. It felt good, the way it caressed her skin gently. Sloane smiled a little and reopened her eyes. She looked over her shoulder at the setting sun and something began to sparkle in her eye. Sloane let a devious grin appear on her lips and glanced at Max.

"Well, aren't we lucky. It appears my natural element is almost upon us." Parashu jumped down from Sloane's shoulder and they both looked at Max. "Any suggestions as to who I should battle first?"

Sou frowned a bit as it seemed her greeting was lost on the two ace trainer’s. She didn’t answer their question immediately, and instead looked along the bridge and the surrounding area. Nightfall was just about upon them as the sun could be seen slowly descending from its place in the sky, the light it gave off becoming dimmer as time passed. Her eyes moved to Zenith who was standing beside her and took a deep breath before exhaling a bit as she turned back to the trainer’s before them. As she faced them she slowly moved her right hand up to her shoulder where her ponytail sat rather then directly behind her head. ”We wanted to pass…. But I assume we’re going to have battle aren’t we?” she finally said and then smiled. ”Unless you’re kind enough to step aside and just let us through? We’d really like to continue forward now” she said as she moved her hand down from her ponytail down to on top of Lyna, her Kirlia’s head. ”Although…” she continued, the small smile still on her face. ”I think these novices can handle you guys just fine” she said confidently as she turned to look at Zenith. ”Right Zen?” she said.

Sou smiled as Zen seemed to smirk and then agree with her. She was quite fun to be around and made tossing out challenges even better as she seemed to have this competitive presence to her. The two ace trainer’s seemed almost flabbergasted at their challenge, but accepted it no less. ”I won’t be losing today!” she said cheerfully as she pointed towards the trainer's spearow. ”Let’s show them Lyna!” she shouted with a smile.

It was a bit of a tough fight taking both of the trainer’s head-on, but Sou prevailed with a smile. ”We did it!” she cheered as she turned and hi-fived her somewhat tired Wartortle, Ria in victory. She then turned to the trainer’s finally, peering over at Zenith before doing so. ”I guess I made it past the first round huh?” she said.

(I wasn't sure if this battle was meant for both me and Zen, just me or if we were suppose to split it up ;; )

Sloane smirked and rolled her eyes. Well, if that's how it was going to be then that's how Sloane was going to play it. She looked around quickly, searching for someone who appeared to be at a higher strength level than she. After a moment, Sloane made a show of lowering her cane and digging it slightly into the ground. She rolled her eyes and let out a loud sigh. Then, to top it all off, Sloane said loudly,

"Ugh, Max, these trainers are all such a bore. I feel like this place was overhyped for nothing. Is there really no one here truly worth my time?" Sloane cast a glance at Max and smirked slightly before returning to the show. "I mean, I barely see anyone truly strong here."
