I like to use Sceptile as my mega, even if it does turn into a type with a x4 weakness. It's fast and strong, Plus it has a really useful ability, which is lightning rod.

That's one haven't experiment with yet. Probably will need to, but I haven't battle against any teams that put that ability to use yet. They're pretty rare lately. Treecko will probably become of those that will be hard to breed I think.

I'm just way too lazy to make competitive teams. Plus I have the wit and know-how of a zombie when it comes to IVs and EVs and all that fluff and jazz.

Lol I used to be that way on IVs and EVs. Super training made EV training so much easier to keep track of and IMO much faster. IV took awhile since it involves checking the IVs of both parent Pokemon. Now that I got a 6IV Ditto that make it easier (6IV but not all stats are perfect...the IV checker just says they're all outstanding). It just takes a Destiny knot the first time on the Ditto to breed a 3-4 IV Poké and switch out the new one with the old, give the new one one of the power items on a perfect IV stat, and most of the time it'll be 5 if not 6 IV on all stats.....I just haven't got the whole "breeding for perfect nature" down yet lol.

Yeah, honestly I don't know what any of this means. :P I'm like neo, I'm to lazy and its way to confusing for me. What does IV and EV even mean?

Edit: Oops, text wall...got to into that description haha.

IV - the pokemon's Individual Value. When you first obtain your starter or any other/catch it has a random set of IVs for each stat (0-31). 0 being the absolute worst while 31 being the best. If you ever hear someone talk about "perfect IVs it usually means all stats are at 31. All legendaries in games now have 3 stats set at being 3 perfect IVs, though if you're lucky it could be higher. All Pokemon in the friend safari have a set 2 perfect IVs or higher. That's why so many people want a Ditto safari to farm. I only got a perfect 4IV Ditto from it. Though a friend sent me a 6IV Japanese later on I've been using; better chance at shinies while breeding for IVs now

EV - basically mean Effort Value. You can have a total maximum of 510 Effort Value points on a Pokemon. A stat max can only have I believe 202 EVs on a single stat...I'll have to recheck that. EV training basically the Pokemon to gain more points towards the EV trains stats. If you EV trained say a Blissey, it's got two perfect IVs, those being in HP and Def. if you EV trained those Blissey has a better chance of hiring the maximum hp limit and defense limit. If it has the nature that benefits HP or Def then it has an even better chance.

EVs used to be pretty hard to keep track of and a bit time consuming (just like Super Training), but for a competitive team it's worth it.

I kind of know what they mean, but I have no idea why they decided to do it this way and the system just seems so annoying that I'd rather not work with it. I hear stories of "oh, I had to hatch like 50 eggs because none of them had the IVs I wanted" and I'm like... "wheeee, so glad I don't care about competitive battling!" And then you have the whole OU, UU, and whatever tiers people try to build teams for and that's yet another thing that eludes me. Hence, this is why I've never bred a Pokemon with perfect IVs and then EV trained it. Chances are good if I even tried it, I would flunk on something stupid like giving it the wrong moves, giving it the wrong held item, or something like that even after all that research and effort. Bleh.

Call it ADHD, but I'd rather just have more fun with the characters themselves in terms of drawing them, making RPs with them, and so on rather than try to math everything. So yeah, I'll probably never be a real competitive battler, but I hope those who decide to do that kind of thing have fun with it. It's just not my cup of tea.

I'm just basic on it all really. I don't have all the nature this, egg move this down. It's all down pretty easily now thanks to my 6 IV Ditto. If it weren't for that I wouldn't care for it all. Thanks to my luck on X I've got about half a box full of shiny Pokemon now so people who breed perfect IV competitive poké would love those.

It is true though, most people have a seriously hard time breeding because it's all from scratch. If at best most ppl only start with 2-3 perfect IVs on a Ditto to start then have to start on breeding 2 separate pole for good IVs and a lot of stuff I'd rather not work on unless I plan on going to Regionals/Worlds...which I do one day...but no time right now to worry about it.

I've messed up on it all before myself when trying and yeah it's tough. People who do it daily plan it all out beforehand with sites like bulbapedia or series.
