Vaugn passed the remarks the Pikachu gave, and started to think about the very first Labyrinth which they might enter. Their first challenge awaits...

@Trainer17: The Pikachu angrily sparks, getting Ash's attention. "Eira! Be nice!" he warns. "Just because he likes to indulge in the tavern doesn't mean he is a bad person."

As the Pikachu stays her attack, Ash tells Vaugn "Eira had a bad experience in a tavern once--this is why she is a little leery around those that smell of wine and spirits."

@AWA1997: The Pikachu notices Endentho and curiously sniffs him. After figuring he is friendly, she walks around him, sniffing all the while

Endentho just watched the pikachu, not used to being sniffed, but at the same time not being bothered by it.

Inspired, Brock tries to get Eira's attention with a tale: "Once upon a time, something happened. If it hadn't happened, it wouldn't be told."

Sure enough, Eira is sitting at Brock's feet, listening attentively as Brock begins "Long ago in Mikawa, there lived a king and queen who had a son named Owen. The queen had died when Owen was little, and after some time to grieve, the king married again. His new wife hated the boy, and did everything she could to bother or hurt him, in hopes she could drive him away. Owen, for the most part, paid her no mind, and went about his daily routine as always..."

"I don't think it'd kill me if I actually listened to his songs for once." Vaugn thought as he sat beside and started to drown in the song. It was a good time killer; or until the other two arrives...

"He was very fond of bird hunting, and one day while out with his bow he followed a beautiful shining Pidgeot, something he had never seen before." Brock explained, playing a few sweeping chords on his harp to mimic the Pidgeot flying. "He did not catch it, but brought home a feather that fell from its wing. As the feather was beautiful, he showed it to everyone in the castle-his new mother included."

[And then?] Eira asked as she invited Serena to listen to the story.

"After dinner that evening, his mother proposed that he play a game of chess with her. He asked for what they would play for; and she answered that whoever won would put a charge on the other--a kind of magical spell that would force the target to do a specific task, like it or not. If one fulfilled the charge, the spell on them would be broken." Brock replied.
