Pokémon Graphic Designer Died in Accident

It has been reported that a member of the Pokemon team has died. Eric Medalle, Creative Graphic Designer for the Pokemon Company International died Sunday when a tree had fallen on top of his car during a violent windstorm.

The accident happen on Sunday afternoon while Madalle was driving with his daughter in Seattle, Washington. It was then that strong winds from a windstorm had snapped a Douglas fir evergreen. The massive tree crashed on top of his car which killed Madalle. A female passerby was able to rescue Madalle’s daughter. The young girl is said to have sustain minor injuries and is expected to survive.
Madalle has been with the Pokemon Company International since 2003 as Creative Design Director. He was an illustrator for the Pokemon Trading Figure Game and designed the logos for the Pokemon Dream Radar and Pokémon the Series: XY. Lastly, Madalle designed or co-designed the international TCG logos for every set since Nintendo took control of the TCG in 2003. Below is the list of games that Madalle has been credited with.

We send out deepest condolences to Eric’s family. Pokemon fans all over the world enjoyed his work without even knowing who Eric was. We have spent countless hours admiring his work in the TCG and waited weeks to see what he will create next. Eric may be gone but his work will live on for generations to come. Eric was an amazing man with a passion for photography and art. We here from PXR send our prayers to Eric’s family and friends.

He seemed like a really cool guy and a great father. Not only did we lose a really great graphic artist, but two young kids lost a dad a really young age. :(

That's so sad. He was a really talented guy. To die in such a tragic way, not to mention right in front of his daughter is really sad. RIP Eric Medalle. Thoughts and prayers go out to your family.
