I know right! Gemma is so awesome for making those AMAZING sketches =D! She's super generous and I'm still really grateful for the super AWESOME Pikachu sketch she made for me! Even if I get to see some of her art once in a while it's still really awesome. She's got the artist's "gift" really. What many artists out there don't have that many would love to have. She could totally become a famous artist one day if the right person noticed. I can't ignore the others here on PXR though. We have so many talented artists here!

I'm not even sure if it can really be called a gift. It's really all about passion, dedication, and commitment to building skill. I'm sure Gemma's been doing art for many, many years, and all that practice, time, dedication, and desire for improvement is what allowed her to become as good as she is today.
Trust me, what I can do with graphics today would have shocked me in my earlier years, but I certainly wasn't born with a gift like that. My first banners were crapola, my first stories were garbage, and my first drawn art pictures looked like a splattered fly. So much of it is about time, practice, critique, desire to improve, learning from others and their examples, and not being lazy by trying to poke around for shortcuts or to cut corners.
I do agree with you, though. PXR has loads of very awesome artists with many unique styles, and Gemma is definitely one of them.
Well the way I see it. It's something she developed with a lot of hard work and dedication. She's become so talented at it it's almost as if drawing the things she likes could come natural. A quick sketch alone as amazing. Not only that, but she's working with something she loves, making art! The way I see a "gift" is if even if you're not born with that talent, it's something you dedicated yourself to for so long that you become talented at it. People know you for that gift and really admire you for that talent. Gift's can be developed, it's not something you have to be born with, but sometimes they are found and created. Those talents can only be improved over time too.
Same goes for you and your talent with graphics. I've never seen your old work, but I saw your new ones. Like I've said before, those are part of the reason why I found PXR in the first place along with that awesome PSG. Seriously I should show you some of the ones I've created before up for the latest one. I'd love to take the time to learn more though one day.

All my old stuff was on a laptop that had its hard drive wiped. What I did was pretty cheesy, basically taking background screenshots of stuff like Matrix code or something like that, dump a few words on top, and that ended up being the banner. The stuff I have on the hard drive of this computer, even the stuff that's over six or so years old, really isn't all that bad, but what I make now is many times better.
Oh yeah, I used to have no idea how to use signatures either, which was even more amusing. When I think about what I used to do to get around that (insert an image at the bottom of every post followed by a quote), I just laugh at myself and my newbie blunders.
Ah so they wouldn't be on your Photobucket then I take it. Almost every signature you've seen me use (even the current one I'm using) was made by someone else. I've made only a handful, but improved each time I'd say.
Here's an idea. I'll list the ones I've made here: All of these are listed from the first I ever created to the latest.
Spoiler:
It's not much, but yeah they improved each time I say. If only I could actually get better though haha. With time and more practice, but I need to learn better ways to improve upon things first.

Hey, those aren't bad at all! Certainly way better than my first batch.
I made this banner tutorial a few years ago in case you wanted to see how I make one type of banner that sometimes create (I've made similar variants of this one, but this is great for a first example). It's easier for me to show my process in a video, as a step-by-step guide would be a lot more work to put together. In that video, you may need to turn up the volume, as the microphone I had back then wasn't that great, and I have a soft and quiet voice.
Maybe I should put together a new tutorial that shows how to make a banner like what I have in my current signature. I should also try to challenge myself to not use any brushes or previously-prepared gradients.
Thanks lol. Yeah I had to download brushes at first. Not all really worked well, but I worked with what I had for years. As you can probably see in some of those I forgot to erase some parts of the brush effects off of the render itself. I always forgot the actually save the actual Photoshop file in case I made errors. I always made those in one go (though I do have Em's file still saved so I DID learn my lesson xD). Also to note: I did take lightning effect brush and shorten it down to make those Pikachu's spark effects....I couldn't get one to match right in color so I had to angle one up to avoid blending in with Pikachu's color
It's odd, while video processes are not "bad" some reason step-by-step guides are a bit easier to follow if it's just "do this" or "do that." If it involves cutting certain areas in a certain way or etc yeah videos are perfect. I'll check it out later though Neo, thanks!
Lol well it'd be interesting to see. I can't make one right now as it is without brushes. It'd look a bit plain if I did xD
