Hmm well shading can be tricky for a lot of people - even I screw up here and there! But generally once you've figured out a light source, as long as you stick to it your work will turn out okay. If you're stuck for what looks right, I suggest grabbing a similarly shaped object and throw a light against it in the direction you want. That'll help! c:
Yays! Maybe I'll start off with a "How to Draw Pikachu!" segment. xD
Straight lines are all in the motion you use. This, of course, is a lot harder by hand. Pro tip: the quicker you draw the line, the straighter it'll be. I mean you can't ride a bike when you're going at a snail's pace, can you? You'll fall off! O: Also depending on the length of the line, draw using your WHOLE arm, not just your wrist. Flicking your wrist is good for small strokes, but you'll have a lot more control if you use your entire arm. :3
