Seriously though, does it not scare you guys that so many people have guns in the US? I honestly don't think that I would leave the house if it was like that here, 90% of people in the UK are too irresponsible/stupid to own one safely.
Well it's not as if they would use it on a whim and just flail a gun around. Some people are that irresponsible, but not all. Most people today are buying guns solely for the purpose of protecting themselves from the ones that have guns that are complete idiots are irresponsible with them. It's sad to see how the world is getting (I swear it's getting to be more and more like that one phrase from Undertale. "Kill or be killed" except we don't just kill for the fun of it. Just out of protection. Let's just hope w never need to use it though.

My family and I did have ours at the ready the other night when that shooting on my road happened. The 3 armed men broke into a house not too far away from mine and shot the owner. The police were pretty fast the block off the perimeter, but people still reported seeing the men run in their backyard.

I mentioned it to a good friend, but right around the time it happened...I had a weird feeling. Call it ironic, stupid, being overly cautious. I was going to the bathroom at the time (which is located in the master bedroom), suddenly I got this weird sensation or a foreboding. Almost as if I was being watched. I looked around and didn't see anything odd. So I just locked the master bedroom door just in case then the bathroom (note:I was home alone at the time). Not even 5 minutes later I hear that loud BANG not too far away. Then find out later what it really was. Talk about an interesting gut feeling before it happened.

Not really. The only time I've ever been frightened by a gun was when I saw a soldier carrying a machine gun once, and that was at customs in Germany, not the USA.

And while I don't own or know how to shoot again because my parents didn't want me to, I plan to learn how to shoot some in the future and eventually own one for my own safety. Unlike what the world seems to think, not everyone over here is some mass murderer with five million shot guns. Being shot has never been a worry of mine to be honest.

Yeah, shortly after 9/11, there were a lot of armed soldiers and police personnel in crowded places and during sporting events. At first, it seemed a little intimidating, but then when I thought about it, I actually felt much safer knowing the good guys were ready to protect us if something happened.

And nah, I'm not scared of guns. They are DEFINITELY something you need to be trained on how to use and something that needs to be treated carefully and respectfully. But once you know how they work, they can be a very valuable tool and means of protection. I understand that guns aren't for everyone, and that's fine also, but I think they are something that someone of sane-mind, clean background, and maturity should have the privilege of obtaining if they have been adequately trained.

That's the thing, no one can just wave around their guns in public. You wouldn't wave around a big knife or a chainsaw in public either.

And that's strange, but yeah, I get moments like that where I can sense something is going down and it turns out to be right in a weird, almost psychic, almost "I feel like I've lived this moment before" kind of thing.
