Sombra -- Oscura
“If you wanted to charge in head-first, you should have stayed behind with the rest of the rebel forces.”
Meghan glanced over her shoulder at her companion, expression cold and stoic. Six months ago, she might have agreed to go along with Logan’s plan. It was risky, brash, and got them straight to their objective. But it was also a risk she couldn’t afford to take. Logan still thought like the rest of the rebels. He wanted to get rid of Rose and Garit by any means necessary, just like they did.
Giratina was a problem for another time. Now, she needed to get to that Dark Gem. If she could destroy it somehow, someway...maybe it would set Rose free from Garit’s clutches. She couldn’t tell Logan this, of course. He might have followed her and obeyed her orders from time to time, but she knew he had his own ideals. And if they didn’t line up with her own, it was too risky.
A form shimmered to life next to her, and Meghan turned as a Yamask materialized out of thin air. The ghost stared at her with hollow eyes, a swirling miasma of red and purple. The mask in its clutches was bent and cracked, contorted into a grisly memento of the Pokemon’s past life. A noise emanated from the floating creature. A chilling, almost strangled note held for only a second.
Meghan simply nodded and turned to her only other human companion. The Yamato floated by her, but did not make any other sounds, eerily staring at its trainer with hollow eyes.
“Sombra says the streets are relatively clear. We can get closer, if we want. Their focus seems to be elsewhere.”
The trainer whistled, and a brief growl answered her. From the corner of the room, a dark mass of fur uncurled itself from a tight ball. Red eyes blinked up at her for a moment before a Poochyena walked from the shadows. Crossing the room to her side, it stood still as a statue, eyes locked on the other trainer in the room.
“Oscura.” Meghan knelt, gently placing a hand atop the Poochyena’s head. At its trainer’s touch, the dog pokemon broke its focus, turning its gaze to hers instead “Easy. Keep your eyes peeled for enemies, not allies.”
The Poochyena was silent, but Meghan knew it understood. She sighed quietly as she straightened, her eyes falling on Logan again.
“There is something I’ve been meaning to ask you.” The trainer crossed her arms over her chest, leaning against the nearest wall “Why did you follow me? You’re an extremely valuable asset to the rebels. If they branded me as a traitor, they’ve no doubt done the same to you.”
