Yes, but you still see its true colors before the ability kicks in, I believe.

Your tail still appears when you transform. Touch it and POOF you're back to normal.

While that may be one of Zorua's weaknesses, it's not too terribly difficult to hide a tail, and I'm not just talking "transformation" illusions, as they can create fire illusions and more as well.
