Light and Dark... Such juxtaposition. I love that there's a visual element of a villanelle. If that was intentional, that's pretty genius. Almost reminds me of "Do not go gentle into that good night".
Somewhere hidden, lost to find.
Ease the burden, or lose your mind.
I always admire how you manage to weave rhymes within rhymes effortlessly. Such a treat for a reader to have a double dose of rhyme~
Be my totem of peace in this darkness
Perhaps my favourite line of the poem. I love the diction of 'totem', suggesting something sacred and something primal and elemental, and it just extends past being a mere symbol, almost like a living entity.

Dual perspectives being examined simultaneous is something I've seen you done before and The Break-Up does not disappoint. Its rhyme scheme is akin to the sonnet but the little interjections make it seem more like a ballad that's performed, instead of being read, like a song. Such progression through the poem as well, running antiparallel, like...a helix of DNA (weird analogy but I hope you get my drift). And it can possibly be a cycle or a role-swap, or both tbqh. What a way to evoke the complexities of human relationships especially one of love.

I always like seeing what you write; what you write about is so simple and profound and utterly poignant. In the words of Oliver Twist, more please!
