It's weird, this morning I felt really out of it too. Alarm went off, woke up, totally surprised it went off, and forgot "guess what Monday time for work hurr hurr" was totally a thing. I think I was seriously deep in REM sleep and having one heck of a dream that had me thinking today was something completely different. The dream was weird, too. Something where it was like an amusement park ride and at one point of the attraction, you karate chop some wood. And some people on line were so into it that they had gone through it like a dozen times and I was just wondering how their hands weren't throbbing in serious pain.

It was a really weird dream. Suddenly waking up from that is probably what had my head all loopy for a few seconds. XD

Note to self: STOP LISTENING TO HAMILTON WHILE WRITING

Well, the villain for my creative writing entry now has a theme song. The World Was Wide Enough. It fits him so well, as you'll see in the story. There's no doubt in my mind that Madder is assisting me with this story. The amount of sadistic stuff that is being planned for the climax, it's all Madder. The first story was all me, the second story is all Madder.

I've stopped listening to Rent while writing.
Now I'm listening to Alan Parsons Project.
The good news is I'm getting more ideas for my original world that I've been trying to work on. The bad news is that they're not happy ideas.

Usually, I listen to instrumentals so I don't get any ideas. XD

But yeah. When Madder writes, you better believe it's not going to be pretty. Something tells me by the time I reach the end of this story I'll be crying.

If I'm writing, I usually listening to video game music that fits what I'm trying to do and I have all kinds of playlists for that. Oh, writing about a scene that takes place in winter? Got a playlist for that. Desert? Even got one for that too.

I have all of these ready to go (there are others but they're a bit more specific).

    - Aquatic Mix
    - Beat Em Up Mix
    - Combat Collection
    - Dark Combat
    - Dark Corporate (FF7 Shinra-like themes)
    - Desert Mix
    - Draconic Adrenaline (fast-paced metal music I often use for gaming)
    - Dreamstrider (mystical-like themes like stuff from Ori and the Blind Forest)
    - Epic Battle Music
    - Horror Mix
    - Military Mix (has "Briefing" "Dark Dictator's Campaign" and "Military Combat" subfolders XD)
    - Post-Apocalyptic
    - Stealth Mix
    - Ultimate Fury (just outright fast-paced music meant to incite energy)
    - Team Fortress Mega Mix (silly, wacky parody songs to lighten the mood)
    - Urban Mix (city-like themes)
    - Vehicular Combat
    - Wacky Driving (often used for Saints Row XD)
    - Winterbound

I even have a playlist that I used for Stalkers packed with music from Resident Evil, Silent Hill, and stuff like that.

Yeah I usually just search "electric music" or "bass boosted" or something. For example, the first... halfish of The Butterfly Epoch was written using a bass boosted electric dance music set. Following the characters entering Japan, I switched to Inuyasha's OST. There was a little Hamilton here and there but not much. This second story has been allll Hamilton with a little of the villain mix in it.

I just listen to totally random things when writing. Video game soundtracks, sometimes podcasts, sometimes rock and roll or classical... Honestly it depends on my mood.

I've tried doing the podcast thing recently but I end up losing focus on one thing or the other and have I just can't make those work.

Yeah, during the first half of Chronoshock, I was listening to Sibera from TimeSplitters 2. Not only it is also a game about traveling though time, but during the Sibera level, you need to move about stealthily and you're using all kinds of conventional military weaponry as you navigate through a heavily-guarded dam. Like in the story, it's also got a snowy winter setting. But yeah, that's the kind of thing I'll do. What music track seems the closest to what I intend on doing? That's usually what I'll listen to while writing.

TimeSplitters is a really interesting game. One moment, it can be very serious and feel like one of those Call of Duty or Counterstrike games while at other moments, it can go completely loony like Team Fortress 2. Still wish they'd make more of them.

Ohh sounds interesting. Time travel is always fun to mess with in games and stories.

Speaking of which, Neo have you had the chance to read my long AF story?

EDIT: Sneak peek of the climax of story 2
