There aren't any rules to break-there's no way to subvert the contract you've just made, no Kill-Devil-Hill shenanigans going on or anything. Nothing ANYONE'S got will save your sorry rear from the tail end. Fairy-Type wins.
Actually, there's also the pragmatism aspect of Dark Types and their tendency to use their resources. You know, resources a Fae could provide. For a small price of course. And if the Dark Types want more resources, well, who's the Fae to deny them? For a moderate price of course. Oh, and they need more? Well the Fae are always agreeable, as long as you do them more favors.

Before they know it, the Dark Types have found that they've long since imbibed the Kool-Aid, completely unwittingly, and the Fae basically owns them. :)

This is even more hilarious in the context of the most recent Dresden Files book, where the absolutely Dark Typiest person there found out that the Fae Queen's vengeance is very very broad and very very deep. While she was technically fulfilling a debt for /him/.

Avatar taken from Scarfgirl and TheOtherChosenOne of Deviantart. Two great tastes that go great together! You know, when they aren't trying to kill each other horribly.
