Mareep Incense Day in Pokemon GO

incense event
You need to play this!

Forget the obvious reason to take part in this epic Pokémon GO Incense event, such as finding a high powered Mareep and acquiring enough candy to Evolve and power it up in order to Mega Evolve it. That’s all fine and dandy. But there is one thing, hidden within this event that isn’t as obvious, that you need to know, so you can make the most of it.

Sunday, January 24th, 2021, will go down in history as the event of the month! And the main reason is the Pokémon that can be found. Take a look at your Collection Chart (or as I call it, your Catch’em Chart) right now. If you are like most casual players, you are missing just a few Pokémon to round out the Hoenn event. Most notably, Bagon, Plusle, and Minun. These three are not spawning in the wild and may be frustrating to find. However, During the upcoming Incense event, all three, and more, can spawn. Meaning you will be able to finish the third Collection Challenge.

Shocking Spawns

Mareep, is the focus of this Electric/Dragon event and can be found throughout the duration of it, because it is an Electric Type Pokémon, who’s final stage, Ampharos, can Mega Evolve to becomes part Dragon Type. Lucky Trainers may even find a Shiny Mareep! In addition to Mareep, different Pokémon will be attracted to Incense at different times. During times that feature Electric-type Pokémon, you might encounter Pikachu, Magnemite, Voltorb, Chinchou, Mareep, Plusle, and Minun. If you’re lucky, you might encounter a Stunfisk! The times below are when you can find Electric Type Pokémon, while using Incense:

  • 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
  • 2 p.m. – 4 p.m.

Dreadful Dragons

During Dragon-type hours, Dragon-type Pokémon and Pokémon that evolve into Dragon-type Pokémon will be attracted to Incense, including Horsea, Dratini, Mareep, Trapinch, Vibrava, and Swablu. If you’re lucky, you could encounter a Bagon! The times below are when you can find Dragon Type Pokémon, while using Incense:

  • 1 p.m. – 2 p.m.
  • 4 p.m. – 5 p.m.

To help you with the Incense event, there will be a 1 PokéCoin box in the in-game shop that contains three Incense. So be sure to grab that before it disappears!

If your time to play is limited, I have a tip to help you best utilize your Incense. Time it, so that one incense runs though two different spawn periods. For example, if one Incense lasts for 30 minutes, starting it at 1:45 p.m. will give you 15 minutes of Dragon spawn, and 15 minutes of Electric Spawns. Hopefully that will be enough to fill out your Catch’em Chart!

See you around, Genesect!
