Hi all and welcome to a new article series brought to you by Pokemon Crossroads! For our first article, we have a rather charming review…

“Pokemon Minis” from PokemonCenter.com

Pokemon Minis are tiny metal charms of all your favourite Pokemon! In fact, every single Pokemon was released as a mini charm in a pack with all of its evolutions. The US Pokemon Center online store now stocks various minis, including the Eeveelutions, Lucario line, Gengar line, Kanto starter lines, Noibat line and Mewtwo, with more being added all the time.

When they call them “minis”, they’re not lying! These charms are tiny, with some of the smaller Pokemon being as big as a fingernail! I purchased my set from the Pokemon Center in Japan, but the ones from PokemonCenter.com are the same, just with slightly different packaging.

Little Bulbasaur is smaller than my thumbnail!

Each mini has a small hook, allowing you to attach it to any bag, zipper, keychain or almost anything you like! Their small size makes them great accessories for phones and DS’ also, as they don’t get in the way. The back of each mini is silver and features the Pokemon’s number.

Pokemon minis are fantastic for fans whose favourite Pokemon may be a bit obscure and not receive much merchandise, since every Pokemon has been made into a mini. They’re also great for carrying a favourite Pokemon along with you throughout the day. They are quite sturdy and because they are metal, will survive being attached to keys.

Pokemon Minis make great gifts for all Pokemon fans thanks to their cute designs and wide range! Because they are slightly scaled, with larger Pokemon having larger charms, they also look lovely on display. Better still, the packet can easily be pinned up on a cork board.

Fun fact!
These kinds of charms were first created to celebrate HeartGold and SoulSilver, and had a limited release in Japanese Pokemon Centers. A second set was later released which included all Pokemon up to Kalos, and recently the Kalos Pokemon themselves have been released. Thus, Pokemon from the Johto Dex were lucky enough to receive two different minis. The first set is rare, however, so keep an eye on eBay for those.

Price!
A three-evolution set will cost US$8.97, a two-evolution set is US$5.98 and a single Pokemon is US$2.99. Unfortunately, PokemonCenter.com does not ship internationally, so if you’re outside the US, try eBay. The charms will cost a little more from resellers. Charms which haven’t been featured on PokemonCenter.com yet will also be more expensive as they are more sought after. As mentioned, minis from the earlier Johto Dex editions, only released in Japan, can be quite pricey.

Where To Get Them!
Check out the range of Pokemon Minis available now at PokemonCenter.com! If your favourite mini isn’t listed yet, or you’re outside the US, you can try eBay or Amazon. PokeVault also stocks many Pokemon Minis.

Rating!
Pokemon Minis make great accessories and have the biggest range of any Pokemon merchandise, with every Pokemon being featured. They can seem smaller than expected though. We give Pokemon Minis 4 out of 5 Pokeballs for their wide appeal and cute designs!
