During a livestream on NicoNico for Pokken Tournament, a special Mewtwo has appeared. This Mewtwo has an orange crystal protruding from it’s shoulder and has an orange glowing tail. It also has the ability to Mega Evolve into Mega Mewtwo X.
This Mewtwo appeared as a bonus boss battle during the stream. The in-game cameras began to cut to static as Mewtwo suddenly teleported into view. Upon arrival, the environment had turned into wasteland made of crystals. This Mewtwo had dark colored skin and at once Mega Evolved into a “Dark” Mega Mewtwo X. This “dark” version of Mega Mewtwo X had even more crystal protrusions and glowing orange lines.
There is no information about this “Dark” Mewtwo such as if it will be a playable character. It is unsure if this “Dark” Mewtwo and it’s Mega Evolution will be exclusive to Pokken Tournament or will eventually be introduced in the main series of games. Maybe there will be a “Dark” Mega Mewtwo Y. Though, this crystal version of Mewtwo could tie into the crystals that can be found in the region that Pokken Tournament takes place in. The crystals found in the Furrem region allows trainers and Pokemon battle as one which is why you are able to battle as your Pokemon instead of giving commands like in the main series Pokemon games. This was mention in the field guide that The Dex Podcast read through in their podcast episode, Fighting Types! Could this also be affecting Mewtwo in a way that gives it a dark skin color and this “new” Mega Evolution?
