Most Popular Hikers Have Been Announced + Short Clip of USUM

Hiker Daichi would like to battle!

Whose your favorite hiker? In honor of Mountain Day in Japan, on August 11th, 2017, the Japanese Pokemon Twitter account held a general election and asked people their opinion on which is the most popular hiker in the 7 generations of the main series Pokemon games.

The results are in:

    • 1st Place: Entry #7 – Hiker Daichi from Pokemon Sun & Moon with 8,443 votes
    • 2nd Place: Entry #5 – Hiker Natsumi from Pokemon Black & White with 8,027 votes
    • 3rd Place: Entry #3 – Hiker Harunobu Pokemon Ruby & Sapphire with 2,243 votes
    • 4th Place: Hiker Tsutomu from Pokemon Gold & Silver with 2,146 votes
    • 5th Place: おつきみやまのやまおとこ (Otsukimiyama no Yamaotoko)* from Pokemon Red & Green with 1,829 votes
    • 6th Place: Hikers Tatsumi & Morio Pokemon Diamond & Pearl with 1,820 votes
    • 7th Place: Hiker Noboru from Pokemon X & Y with 1,404 votes

*Yamaotoko are the Japanese names for the Hikers in the games. Otsukimiyama is the Japanese name for Mt. Moon, so the Hikers that won 5th place are the Hikers from Mt. Moon.

That’s a grand total of 25,912 votes! Pokemon Sun & Moon won! Hmm, I wonder if that Hiker in Kiawe’s trial had anything to do with the Generation 7 Hiker’s spike in popularity? Speaking of Kiawe’s trial, the Japanese Pokemon Twitter account has also posted a short clip of a Hiker in Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon at Wela Volcano Park, the site of Kiawe’s trial in Pokemon Sun & Moon. But where’s Kiawe?

Translation: Alola! Who am I?
