New Pokemon, Characters and Trailers! New Sun and Moon Info!

New SM INformation
Pokemon fans were in for a treat today as several new pieces of information for Pokemon Sun and Moon was release today. This includes plenty of new Pokemon, characters and story elements.

New Pokemon
Null

Type: Null
Category: Synthetic Pokémon
Type: Normal
Ability: Battle Armor
Height: 6’03”
Weight: 265.7 lbs

Type: Null has an interesting name. It surely took awhile to realize that the name was literally “Type: Null”. Though it seems like this Pokemon has some mysterious origins based on the information on Pokemon’s website.

This Pokémon wearing a mask has been dubbed “Null,” meaning nothing.

The shapes of its front and hind legs are clearly different. The reason is that Type: Null was constructed to synthesize the strengths of various Pokémon, enabling it to adapt to any situation.

The mask fitted to Type: Null’s head is a piece of equipment designed to control its latent powers. It’s extremely heavy, so it also serves to hinder Type: Null’s agility.

To complete a certain mission, there was need of a Pokémon powerful enough to rival those Pokémon often spoken of in mythology.

It would be curious to see what this Pokemon was made to “rival”. Could this be a hint that it was made to stand up to the likes of Legendary Pokemon or the Island Deities?

Cute Dragon

Jangmo-o
Category: Scaly Pokemon
Type: Dragon
Ability: Bulletproof/Soundproof
Height: 2’0″
Weight: 65.5 lbs

Jangmo-o will clearly evolve into something impressive. Maybe this is a hint to this generation’s psudo-Legendary Pokemon.

Jangmo-o has the pride of a warrior, although it remains humble about its capabilities. In its pursuit to become stronger, it never neglects its training.

Because Jangmo-o uses the scales on its head for both offense and defense, it never turns its back to its enemies. Many Trainers see this behavior and take it as proof that Jangmo-o is a valiant Pokémon.

Jangmo-o gather in harsh locales like canyons, where no other people or Pokémon are around, to live together as they train.

Pokemon makes Jangmo-o sound like a noble Pokemon. It will be interesting to see what this Pokemon will evolve into.

Alolan Raticate

Alolan Raticate
Category: Mouse Pokemon
Type: Dark/Normal
Ability: Gluttony/Hustle
Height: 2’04”
Weight: 56.2 lbs

Pokemon also reveals that Alolan Rattata can evolve into an Alolan Raticate. It retains the Dark/Normal type but has become fatter due to eating so much as a Rattata. It has tried to eat healthier as a Raticate as mentioned by Pokemon.

Because urban areas are their main habitat, their diet is higher in calories than ordinary Raticate. As a result, they have become hefty.

Alolan Raticate prefers to eat only fresh fruits and high-class ingredients. There are rumors that a certain top-notch restaurant takes advantage of Alolan Raticate’s taste buds by bringing it along when choosing ingredients to buy, and having it taste test new dishes.

Alolan Raticate continually stockpile huge amounts of food in their nests. They mostly prefer to send out Alolan Rattata to gather food while they themselves stay home in their nests and just eat.

Alolan Raticate is the Totem Pokémon of the trial that takes place in Verdant Cavern on Melemele Island in Pokémon Moon.* It summons Rattata to help it confront those who take on the trial.

*Gumshoos appears as the Totem Pokémon in Verdant Cavern in Pokémon Sun.

Due to the night and day mechanics in Pokemon Sun and Moon, those playing Moon will be facing off against Alolan Raticate for their trial on Melemele Island. This is quite an interesting difference between games. Perhaps this will be the same for the other trials.

Team Skull Enforcer
Gladion
Gladion was introduced as a Team Skull Enforcer. He is described as a powerful trainer who places high value on being strong. They do not describe what he does exactly in Team Skull but you do get to battle him eventually. The Pokemon he uses is the mysterious Type: Null.

The Aether Foundation
A new organization called The Aether Foundation was also revealed today. This organization is composed of several characters who look to play an important role in Pokemon Sun and Moon. The purpose of this group is to care for and provide shelter to Pokémon that have been hurt. They do this by conducting various projects and taking in Pokemon hurt by Team Skull. They reside on an artificial island that is located in the center on Alola called Aether Paradise

The Aether Foundation is led by Lusamine who acts as the organization’s beautiful president. There is also the proud Faba who is The Aether Foundation branch chief. The assistant branch chief of Aether Paradise is named Wicke who is beloved by everybody within the organization. Lastly there are the Aether Foundation’s employees who help shelter and care for several Pokemon.

Fans are already speculating on the role of Aether Foundation. Several are claiming that this group could be the true villains of Pokemon Sun and Moon. Others have noticed that Gladion, Lusamine and Lillie all look rather similar. It could explain why a Team Skull Enforcer has a Pokemon like Type: Null.

Ultra Beasts
Ultra Beasts were introduced today as a mysterious presence within the Alola region. These creatures are said to be a threat to the region and possess mighty powers that can harm humans and Pokemon.

The Aether Foundation is said to be researching the Ultra Beasts. Rumors have it that there are several Ultra Beasts and they all have some sort of code name.

UB-01

The Ultra Beast that was shown today is called UB-01. Below is what Pokemon had to say about it.

B-01’s body is composed of a glass-like substance. However, it’s constantly changing shapes, never settling on one.

While evidence of something like a survival instinct can be observed in UB-01, no one knows whether it has a will of its own or any emotions. It’s said that, for some reason, its movements resemble those of a young girl.

That last sentence sounds pretty ominous. It doesn’t help that UB-01 looks similar to Lillie who is also a young girl.

Collecting Zygarde Cores
Zygarde Cube that isn't a cube
The method to transform Zygarde seem to have been revealed today. Dexio and Sina will make an appearance in Pokemon Sun and Moon. You met them in Pokemon X and Y as Professor Sycamore’s assistants. They have traveled to the Alola region to research Zygarde.

Dexio and Sina will give you the Zygarde Cube which will allow you to search and collect Zygarde Cores. The Cores will light up as you travel to various locations within Alola. If you collect enough of the Cores then it is said to lead you to a path to see what Zygarde’s role in Sun and Moon.
