Hello, and welcome to the fourth entry for “Pokemon Mythology in the Modern World”! These articles will cover the legendary Pokemon and apply their domains in the Pokemon world and how they would adapt to the modern world. Usually, these would tackle the legendaries with little myth or backstory, but the “major” legendaries can also be fleshed out. The articles will feature its Pokedex entries, and there will be a myth/backstory about the legendary, followed by the ideas and/or theories and will be followed up by certain question to guide other forms of theories/head-canons.
Kindly remember that these articles are like theories and are not full-canon or endorsed by official Pokemon staff.
This article will tackle two Legendary Pokemon, which are Latios and Latias. Whenever possible. they will be called Lati@s as the fandom provides. It’s even interesting that these two don’t have any legend stuck into it.
Here is a short myth about the birth (or creation) of Lati@s and its effect to the world.
During the olden days, the human was a singular being. Even with different looks, their physiological structure are the same. A human can be pregnant to a baby and can also fertilize itself to make a baby. The same human can also supply the milk that the offspring needs. When it comes to work, the human does it all, whether hard work or housekeeping.
Now, somewhere in the world, lies an island called Eon Island. It is a island shrouded in mystery. No one has ever visited this island, although legends say that it is a quiet island full of trees and white sand beaches. In the middle of the island lies a huge white boulder. It was said to be smooth and pure.
At some time, the boulder glowed. It glowed faintly, only visible during the night, but as the days passed, the intensity of the light increased. Until it exploded into a beam of light, bright enough to blind a spectator. When the light faded down, the boulder broke in half and Latias and Latios appeared before it. After a while, the duo glowed in a white light, and the light beams flew away in all directions.
Back to civilization, the humans were hit by the bright white light. The human beings were split into two. After sometimes, the humans learned that the other half could only take care of an unborn baby. The other half became sturdier for work and the other half softened to suit up for housework.
That time was when the humans were split into two genders.

Basically, Lati@s spawned the creation of gender. Latios created the male race and Latias for the female race. What differs them from Diancie (from one of the previous articles) is that Diancie gives the idea and Lati@s would decide over the idea’s approval. Lati@s deals with physiological matters and Diancie deals with the social aspects of genders.
Lati@s also deals with family matters. They proposed an idea of a perfect family, and today’s family planning sessions are based on their proposal. This does not mean that Latios and Latias treats each other like husband and wife. They’re siblings and at the same time coworkers. They have their own love interests, anyway (for future articles?).
