This article will revolve around Meloetta the Melody Pokemon. Meloetta’s pieces of music and dance are very popular among musicians and dancers. But, when sorrow darkened the world, Meloetta left the world and her two red shoes went missing. Her songs have to power to control the audience’s emotions.

This myth covers the reason why Meloetta really left this world.

During the olden days, the olden city was a place of jest and galore. People went around the city, enjoying the merriment of music and danced to the tune. They did the festivities while doing their duties or just enjoying around. For their patron was Meloetta, the goddess of music and dance. She, with her flowing green hair and bright red shoes, visited the olden city and blessed its inhabitants with the gift of her power. During the day, she and the Kricketot and the Kricketune, her bug-servants, performed songs, sonatas, and concertos. Her voice flowed freely with the xylophone sounds and the violin sounds of her bug-servants. In the night, her persona would change. She becomes her Pirouette forme. If her previous persona, the Aria forme, was dedicated to her music, the Pirouette forme was all about her movements and dances. Her green hair turned vibrant red and clipped to minimize distraction. She would dance in front of the city’s residents on the stage in the middle of the city by the fire of the night.

Everyone enjoyed the festivities, but one does not. The old hag of the city favoured peace and tranquility. She would lock herself in her wooden hut to block the music that was her noise. Of all the residents, she slept early, for she ignores the dance of Meloetta. The old hag won’t take Meloetta as a higher being, just a normal creature with the talent of music and dance.

As the days and months moved on, she hated Meloetta with a passion that grew worse. On a silent night, after Meloetta danced her performance, the old hag thought of an idea.

The next day, when the people of the city woke up and started to sing and work, she went to the nearby river. There, in its muddy riverbank, she set off to find the filthiest of the filthy Magikarp. Once the old hag got satisfied in catching what she wanted, she took a sharp knife, and cut a little wound on the helpless fish, blood dripping to the flask that the old hag brought.

She went back and reached her hut in the afternoon, flask hidden from sight. She took her special glass cup and poured a well-stored glass of red wine and poured its contents. Then, she took the flask and the blood flowed and mixed with the wine. While mixing the vile concoction, she let out a manic laugh.

The night came, and everyone went to the stage, ready to see another performance of Meloetta. The residents were shocked at the old hag’s appearance, as they knew the old hag’s point of view when it comes to Meloetta. Still, they took it as a change of heart, and welcomed the old hag and offered a seat. At last, Meloetta arrived with her bug-servants. The bug-servants performed a song while Meloetta danced along. Her movements were graceful, the old hag thought as she watched the performance. After Meloetta’s round, the old hag stood and went to the goddess.

“I offer thee thy wine. For thou have changed my thoughts and I offer my beliefs,” the old hag said. She offered the flask of wine, and Meloetta took it. Meloetta took the wine and took in the contents. Nothing happened, but then Meloetta turned green and glowed. She reverted to her Aria forme, her head spinning with dizziness and muttering complaints and curses.

“I cannot take this vileness. Thou all shall be cursed of misery and will never hear or see any forms of my blessings of music and dance,” she said. She glowed in a bright light, all people blocking the light, and disappeared, leaving her two red shoes.

From that day onwards, the olden city became silent, yearning for the festivities that Meloetta once provided. People still kept Meloetta’s pair of red shoes, until they moved on and the shoes disappeared from sight and memory.

Theories on Meloetta in the modern world:

Today, Meloetta is the goddess of music and dance. She would bless people who she deems worthy with her blessing of music or dance. Those blessed would be successful in the music or dance industry. This does not mean all musicians and dancers are given the blessing. Some succeed with talent alone.

She can also bless people with their taste in music. She could help in rearranging a person’s taste in music, but usually she lets the people nowadays.

It appears that Meloetta’s two forms are controlled by whatever portion is more dominant. Classical concertos would stabilize her Aria forme, while dance contests would bring out her Pirouette forme. Her famous piece, the Relic Song, negates the rule and turns her to her other forme. If the music/dance ratio is equal, she can pick whatever forme she would like to be. Usually this is her default form, the Aria forme.

Because of this dilemma, Meloetta likes those who mix in music and dance. As an example, she favours the rhythm games like Dance Dance Revolution and Pump it Up, especially they contain vibrant music and vigorous dance moves. Also, her favourite genre of music is any music which maintains equal music/dance ratio. Recently, she took a huge liking to Korean Pop, mainly because of the said music/dance ratio. An interview with Meloetta revealed that she can clearly understand any language of music and her reason is that music has no language barrier. That, or she’s the goddess of music and she can do those kind of things. She would prefer any song that could at least equalize the ratio, but she thinks Korean Pop can only do it by this time.

If one wants to see Meloetta, he or she could try in the arcade and look for games related to music and dance. She could be playing with the mortals without them knowing who were they playing with. If there is a concert nearby, there’s a good chance that she would be in the seats nearest to the artists. If it is a Korean Pop concert, it is a sure-fire place to look for her recently. Otherwise, her tastes may or may not change as of this time. She’s probably the girl who “fangirls” a lot everytime, but she is a disciplined goddess and she controls herself (most of the time).
