Pokémon Rumble Rush’s Final Update

One last hoorah before the final days.

With Pokémon Rumble Rush’s end of service date drawing ever closer, the next, and final update, is set to occur on June 10. The app will be going down for maintenance and will receive a few final updates to give players the chance for one last final party before the game shuts down forever. The list of updates includes the following:

  • You can now switch between multiple seas
  • Adds “Snag” stages, where Pokémon you haven’t caught in your Pokédex yet will appear
  • Adds special missions and titles for catching all Pokémon in every sea
  • Adds Battle Royale specific effects to Summon Gears
  • Allows for you to search for Pokémon by Atk stat
  • Removes connectivity with the Nintendo Account

It’s a shame that some of these updates could not be added in until the end as certain ones like the Battle Royale specific effects for Summon Gears, Snag stages, and searching via Attack stat seem like quality of life updates that would have seen much use if the game had continued past July. Removing connectivity with the Nintendo Account seems like an odd move and perhaps it’s linked with the removal of purchasable gems and such in the game.

That said, several of these other updates like switching between multiple seas and special missions are a great way to let players who haven’t been part of the game since the beginning experience what they missed. It also can gives fans who have been there since the beginning a bit of nostalgia as they’re able to revisit the seas they visited initially and maybe even clear them out when they were not able to previously. This coupled with the snag skatches also gives players around two months to try and complete their pokedexes and obtain special gears that they may have missed out on previously.

All in all, it’s very reminiscent of Pokémon Duel’s end. Players are given the opportunity to obtain all the Pokémon they missed and just have an all around blast of a time until the game shuts down for good. It’s a shame the latest installation in the Pokémon Rumble franchise has to be shut down like this, but as it is, all good things must eventually come to an end.
