Pokemon Sun and Moon News at E3 Treehouse

SM Treehouse
The Nintendo Treehouse event at E3 was held today and it featured Pokemon Sun and Moon. Plenty of information about the upcoming games was showcased including new Pokemon, abilities and battle mode!

Pikipek
The first new Pokemon that was shown was Pikipek. The classification for Pikipek is the Woodpecker Pokemon and it is a Normal/Flying type Pokemon. Fans may have recognized Pikipek as the bird Pokemon that we saw as a wire frame during the announcement video for Pokemon Sun and Moon. Below is a description for Pikipek:

…(Pikipek) can bore holes in trees by striking them up to 16 times per second. These strikes can do more than drill through hard wood—they can even shatter stone. Pikipek can attack distant opponents by firing seeds with enough force to embed them into the trunks of trees. This Pokémon also likes small glittering objects and will hide these amongst their food stores.

Pikipek’s abilities can be Keen Eye or Skill Link.

Yungoos
The next new Pokemon that was showcased was Yungoos, the Loitering Pokémon. It is a Normal type Pokemon that has the Strong Jaw ability or Stakeout. The Stakeout ability is brand new ability that allows Yungoos’s moves to deal twice the normal damage to any Pokémon that switches in or enters the field mid-battle.

Below is a description for Yungoos.

This Normal-type Pokémon is known for its humongous hunger and has a terrible temper when hungry. The majority of its long body is made up of its stomach, and it is never satisfied due to its swift digestion.

Grubbin
The last new Pokemon that was introduce in the E3 Treehouse was the Larva Pokémon Grubbin. This is a brand new Bug type Pokemon that trainers can meet early in their adventure. Grubbin ability is Swarm.

Below is the description for Grubbin.

This Bug-type Pokémon relies on its strong and sturdy jaws, using them as both a weapon in battle and a tool to help them burrow into the ground. Grubbin can spew sticky threads from its mouth and can wrap these threads around trees, enabling this Pokémon to swing around and become much more mobile.

We also got plenty of new information for previous revealed Pokemon.

Magearna
It was revealed that Magearna’s ability is called Soul-Heart. This ability raises Magearna’s special attack by one each time a Pokemon faints while Magearna is in battle. That includes if one of your own Pokemon has fainted.

Trainers will be able to capture Magearna through a QR code that will be distribute in North America at a later date.

SolgaleoLunala
During the E3 event, the forms that Solgaleo and Lunala take were also mention. When Solgaleo use their mighty powers then it will shift into it’s Radiant Sun phase. Meanwhile, Lunala will shift into it’s Full Moon when it uses it’s mighty powers. This could be similar to how Xerneas changes appearances when it is in and outside of battle.

Lastly, a new battle mode was introduce called Battle Royal. This battle mode is a four player free-for-all battle where each player takes in three Pokemon. When one player loses all of their Pokemon then the battle will end. The winner will be determine by the number of Pokemon that the player has knocked out and how many they have remaining.

Plenty of information was shown an we are bound to get even more. Watch the video below to get a taste of what to expect from Pikipek, Yungoos and Grubbin.
