Sustainability Week 2022 Coming To Pokémon GO

Get a tree planted just for walking in the most sustainable event this year!

With spring upon us, there is no better time to start thinking about the big rock we live on. Helping this planet thrive for future generations is no small feat. Planting trees has been proven to help, so Niantic is taking a step in the right direction.

For each trainer that walks 5km during April’s Community Day, Niantic will plant a tree, up to 100,000 trees. Those are some huge numbers, so get walking! In addition to that, you will be able to find a new Pokémon and a new Shiny Pokémon during the sustainability Event. All details can be found on the Pokémon GO Blog, but let’s dissect the good stuff below.

Event Details

During Sustainability Week 2022, there will be a Collection Challenge that will reward you with 10,000 XP and 15 Great Balls upon completion. Gloom and Weepinbell will be required to finish this challenge, but they will only be spawning from Mossy Lures. Thankfully one will be provided free of charge from the in-game shop. Also, if you come across a PokéStop you haven’t spun yet, you will receive twice the XP as normal from spinning it.

A new Pokémon debuts during this event, Oranguru, will be spawning in the wild. Be sure to catch many of them so you can get the best one possible. If that wasn’t enough, Cherubi will also have it’s Shiny unlocked and available to those lucky Trainers.

There is lots to see and do during the Sustainability Week 2022 event. Wether that’s getting out and walking after being cooped up indoors all winter, or Shiny hunting Cherubi. There is something for everyone. Personally, I’m looking to add a Shiny Cherrim to my ShinyDex, and maybe an Alolan Diglett too!

See you around, Genesect!
